Comment: The ‘old’ wise has strong opinions about movies. So it makes his movie blog quite enjoyable to read. Besides this Scot man brings us a European point of view on cinema. So let’s have a look to Filmstalker from time to time.
Here below the latest movie news from Filmstalker:
Stalked: Last Days of American Crime, Dark Void video game adaptation, American Gladiators, The Factory is happening [-->full article] Sat, 21 Nov 2009 Sam Worthington is set to star in an interesting sounding science fiction film... Brad Pitt's Plan B has picked up the video game Dark Void before it's even released... American Gladiators really is happening... So is The Factory with John Cusack...... |
Season of the Witch full trailer reveals all [-->full article] Sat, 21 Nov 2009 I have to wonder why I'd bother watching Season of the Witch after watching this new trailer, for it seems to reveal a hell of a lot of the film's story. However, to be fair, it looks a pretty decent film starring Nicolas Cage, then again we don't get to see that much of him. It does concern me that we've seen just about everything in the film, perhaps there's more after this point, but reading the blurb I can't see what else there will be to it. I hate trailers that tell too much, but then at l... |
Kull the Conqueror to get remake? [-->full article] Sat, 21 Nov 2009 Kull the Conqueror was a film from 1997, doesn't seem that long ago really, but there's talk of a remake already. Well remake may be unfair because it seems that this new film is going back to the original source, the Robert E. Howard character who first appeared in 1929, well before Conan. It would seem that if this project comes to fruition, it will beat any Conan film to the cinema and maybe steal his thunder, something that Conan once did to Kull as Howard wote Conan from the original Kull c... |
Avary still on Silent Hill 2 [-->full article] Fri, 20 Nov 2009 Silent Hill 2 has been on the go for a very long time, and with the recent news that Roger Avary, the man tasked with writing the film, has been sent to prison, it would seem that there's little chance of the film happening. Well that might not be true as the producer Don Carmondy has been talking about the film and about Avary's involvement.... |
Underworld 4 gets Shield writer [-->full article] Fri, 20 Nov 2009 This could be huge news for the fourth in the Underworld series as word comes out that the a writer of The Shield, John Hlavin, is set to write the script for Underworld 4. Although that spells good news for the series, let's put this in context, there's no director and no lead actress, but there is an idea of where the film would be placed in regards the time-line of the others.... |
Spielberg developing King's Under the Dome [-->full article] Fri, 20 Nov 2009 It was good news for Stephen King fans when we heard that his latest story, Under the Dome, was coming to the big screen, but news today brings great and not so good news for the film. Great news first? Steven Spielberg is one of the executive producers on the project, so that's got to be good and looks like it might go the same way as The Talisman, and that's the not so good news, it's going to become a mini-series.... |

The Flying Scotsman for free in Edinburgh [-->full article] Thu, 19 Nov 2009 I've been a huge supporter of The Flying Scotsman (Filmstalker review) since it was released, I loved that film, and it really touched me on a very personal level and struck me as a great Scottish film. It's just a shame that a lot of people who held purse strings for the film didn't think so. Still, it got made, got released and found a huge audience, and we're all glad of that for it's a superb film and Scotland should be proud of it. So it's superb news to hear that the Filmhouse is showing i... |
Gibson suggests Braveheart gave Scotland independence [-->full article] Thu, 19 Nov 2009 Let's face facts, the Scottish people have always wanted some form of independence and autonomy from the UK, like Wales and Ireland, there's a strong sense of who we are and a strong place in our hearts for our history. What I can say is that I don't believe that Braveheart made Scotland independent at all. In fact, if anything, it did highlight how we lost our country in the first place, and it's not as clear cut as some poetic views of history might like us to think.... |
The Black Hole trailer online [-->full article] Thu, 19 Nov 2009 This is a little bit of nostalgia here, and nothing like a recent release, but it's a film that I think is one of the many that really could benefit from a remake, whereas so many of the Hollywood films that are remakes just now aren't needed or wanted, The Black Hole is one that could work. You can see from this extended trailer just how dated it looks, and if you've seen the film you know that even now it still packs a powerful story, some great characters, and tons of adventure - Vincent and ... |
Ten Best Days of My Life shows a bad side to the afterlife [-->full article] Thu, 19 Nov 2009 While some are suggesting this is a remake of Defending Your Life, the Albert Brooks written , directed and starring film, although to me it sounds like it owes more to A Matter of Life and Death from 1946 starring David Niven. However the story of Ten Best Days of My Life has something a little different to it and portrays the afterlife a bit like a company with a hierarchy and a promotional system. Sounds a bit odd doesn't it?... |
Cycler teenage girl-boy swap story [-->full article] Thu, 19 Nov 2009 Wow, I really struggled writing a title for this that could explain what the film was about and wasn't five hundred words long! Cycler is the story of a teenage girl who for four days every month turns into a teenage boy, and I mean completely, even with full male anatomy, and after the four days turns back to a girl. The successful book series is to be adapted into a film, and I find that fascinating because there's a huge scope for this project and how it could turn out on screen.... |
More Spider-Man 4 casting rumours [-->full article] Thu, 19 Nov 2009 There are some films that just attract casting rumours like flies round something very smelly. They just pour out one after the other. Hey, did you know I've actually auditioned for Spider-Man 4? I can't tell you what part it is yet, and that's nothing to do with the fact it isn't written yet, but never mind. No the latest rumour is that Anne Hathaway is “being approached” to star in the film. Now what that means could vary from some executive sitting in their office musing over the idea to ... |
Crazy Heart trailer online [-->full article] Thu, 19 Nov 2009 I missed this trailer when it popped up, it's the trailer for Crazy Heart, a new film starring Jeff Bridges, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Colin Farrell and the superb Robert Duvall. It tells the story of an aged country music singer whose life has really broken him down and through his many marriages he now finds himself drinking too much and travelling from small time gig to small time gig. Then a journalist arrives and tries to bring out and document the real man and we follow him through redemption.... |
