Creation trailer [-->full article] Jun 12, 2009 14:
Today we have the new trailer for CREATION, the Charles Darwin biopic starring Paul Bettany. The film portrays Darwin as a doting husband and father, torn between his love for his deeply religious wife and his own growing belief in evolutionary theory, which he would later print in his explosive book "On the Origin of the Species".
I'm not sure what Darwin's wife actually looked like in real life but it seems like an unnecessary addition by the filmmakers here, to cast Jennifer...

Besson's mega studio [-->full article] Jun 12, 2009 13:
I love Luc Besson. I should put that out there before I get into this. The French film director/writer/producer/banger of Milla Jovovich will be building the $42 million Paris Studios, the first French "mega studio" hopefully, to rival Pinewood in London and Babelsberg in Berlin, as home to major Hollywood productions. With nine soundstages, including one at 23,680 square feet, Paris Studios will be part of...

Behind Good, Bad & Weird [-->full article] Jun 12, 2009 13:
I'm not sure if I mentioned this before, but THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE WEIRD was my favorite film last year. That's right, over THE DARK KNIGHT. And because I have such phenomenal taste you should all be excited to check out this sweet little behind-the-scenes clip that Empire has snagged in preparation for the film's release on Blu Ray next week:
In the film, the awesome Kang Sang-Ho (THE HOST), the awesome Lee Byung Hun (GI JOE) and Woo Jung-Sung star as three Korean outlaws who try to...

Stewart as Jett pic [-->full article] Jun 12, 2009 12:
Just looking over what I've been writing about recently, it could easily be construed this week that I hate everyone and I'm the kind of person who sits at my keyboard and trolls all the live long day because I'm just a shitty person. But come on, Eli Roth and Ashton Kutcher? You've gotta give me those.
Anyway, I mention this because I'm going to add a third in Kirsten Stewart. I don't like her. She openly shits on her...

Mars filming this year? [-->full article] Jun 12, 2009 10:
Is Disney getting ready to finally begin filming on JOHN CARTER OF MARS later this year? A report in the Salt Lake Tribune of Utah (via Ain't It Cool) says that they've just approved a request by the JOHN CARTER production company to film in Utah for 45 days starting in November. The film, which will mark the live-action directorial debut of Pixar's Andrew Stanton (WALL-E), has been in development for many years with...

Whedon offered Buffy? [-->full article] Jun 12, 2009 08:
When news broke that the director of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER (the Kristy Swanson version) was looking to reboot the franchise with a new film outside of the Joss Whedon/TV "Buffy" universe, Whedon fans were understandably pissed. Whedon's "Buffy" universe is treated like gospel so why would Buffy fans want to see a movie where his entire universe was thrown out? There was a backlash that was quite...

Predators director? [-->full article] Jun 12, 2009 07:
Yesterday it was announced that Marcus Nispel had officially signed on to direct the CONAN THE BARBARIAN remake for Lionsgate. It was a directing gig for which Neil Marshall (THE DESCENT) had also been in contention. But while Marshall lost one opportunity, it seems he has gained another. Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that Marshall is in "close talks" to direct the PREDATORS remake/reboot/whatever for...

Review: Away We Go [-->full article] Jun 12, 2009 07:
Plot: A young couple (John Krasinski & Maya Rudolph) expecting their first child, go on a road trip in order to find the perfect place to start a family.
Review: AWAY WE GO is quite the change of pace for director Sam Mendes. Considering that the closest hes ever come to making a comedy was his Gulf War film, JARHEAD, I wouldnt have thought Mendes was the ideal choice to make a light, coming of age flick...

INT: Duncan Jones [-->full article] Jun 12, 2009 07:
It won't be long before people stop referring to director Duncan Jones as "David Bowie's son." His new film, MOON, is getting tons of buzz and it's sold out distribution rights worldwide. Plus, he's a super nice guy.
With tons of nods to classic sci-fi, Kevin Spacey as the voice of a robot and actual science behind the film, MOON is sure to be a cult classic. I gave it an 8/10...check out our review...

Review: Pelham 123 [-->full article] Jun 12, 2009 07:
Plot: A New York City subway car is hijacked by an armed crew led by a man (John Travolta), with a grudge against the city. He wants $10 million in one hour or he starts executing hostages, forcing a mild-mannered dispatcher (Denzel Washington), to become his liaison with the authorities, including the city's disgruntled mayor (James Gandolfini).
Review: Tony Scott's remake of THE TAKING OF PELHAM 123 is your...

Michael Moore's latest [-->full article] Jun 12, 2009 01:
The last time I so much as mentioned Michael Moore on this site, I was greeted with a vitriolic resentment unseen since the days of The Third Reich. Do you guys hate left wing propagandists or fat people? I can't decide. Either way, Michael Moore is going to continue making movies, and people are going to continue to talk about them, which I guess is ultimately the point. Recently USA today premiered the...

Tyler Perry poster [-->full article] Jun 12, 2009 01:
I will be the first to admit that I have not yet seen a Tyler Perry movie and I'm pretty sure that I will never see a Tyler Perry movie. But there's no denying that the screenwriter, actor, director and producer has established himself as one of the most powerful and iconic figures working in American cinema today. His next film is I CAN DO BAD ALL BY MYSELF and it features his beloved character Madea, a matriarchal...

Fox talks Lost [-->full article] Jun 12, 2009 01:
ABC's "Lost" isn't a movie, I know that. But it is more cinematic, more enthralling, and more innovative than the majority of films being churned out by Hollywood and therefor it deserves time on this site. All of us "Lost" fans are well aware that next season will be the show's last, and anticipation over just what everything means is reaching fever pitch. Apparently Matthew Fox who plays Jack...

Limpet finally swims? [-->full article] Jun 12, 2009 00:
Anyone with a pre-cable childhood will probably be familiar with THE INCREDIBLE MR. LIMPET, which seemed to air almost every Saturday or Sunday afternoon.
The half-animated 1964 movie starred the rubber-faced Don Knotts as a guy who gets transformed into a cartoon fish and assists the Allies in WWII. A remake has been in the works for ages, with spastic actors Jim Carrey and Robin Williams previously planning to get in...
