It seems that Paul Bettany is a busy actor who enjoys movies dealing with a religious theme (Creation and Priest) : he got the lead role as Archangel Michael in the movie Legion, an upcoming action fantasy movie directed by Scott Stewart. The movie Legion will be released on January 22, 2010.

Plot:
“After a terrifying biblical apocalypse descends upon the world, the Archangel Michael (Paul Bettany) is the only one standing between mankind and an apocalypse, after God loses faith in humanity. Michael, along with some humans in a diner in the middle of nowhere, has to protect the messiah growing inside one of the diner’s waitress.”

A movie trailer of Legion was shown during the comic con, and from what people report seeing Archangel Michael holding a knife and a machinegun, so the poster is the real deal we’re gonna see in the movie! Well, that would be the most badass angel ever! Bring it on! Let’s hope that this Legion movie trailer will be released soon for us all to enjoy it.
