MTV has talked to Frank Pearce, VP of product development at Blizzard Entertainment. And he confirmed that there is a World of Warcraft movie in development.
“Legendary Pictures is currently trying to assign some names to write the screenplay and find someone to direct it, so it’s still really early in production, they want to make sure they get the right talent for those different parts, especially the screenwriting, because that’s the foundation for the movie.”
Frank Pearce, VP of product development at Blizzard Entertainment
And it looks like it won’t be be all CGI, we should rather expect a live action World of Warcraft movie:
[The idea of a complete CGI movie] has come up in discussions but it’s not something we’ve really considered because it takes so long to generate just the brief amount of footage that we create for the game. […] That department’s focus is creating the footage for the games to tell the story; it would be a huge undertaking and it’s not really something that we’re ready to do anytime soon.”
Frank Pearce, VP of product development at Blizzard Entertainment
If such an epic fantasy/adventure movie based on the popular video game series is ever released it would be a massive box office success! Let’s keep our fingers crossed for the movie World of Warcraft to happen soon!

Comments Off on Race To Witch Mountain Movie Trailer Leaked
Race to Witch Mountain is an upcoming sci-fi movie, remake of the original 1975 film Escape to Witch Mountain. This new version, using a script by Matt Lopez, is a modern re-imagining of the 1975 movie. The film is directed by Andy Fickman and is starring Dwayne Johnson, AnnaSophia Robb, Alexander Ludwig, Ciaran Hinds, and Carla Gugino. Race to Witch Mountain should be released in March 2009.
A bootleg trailer of Race To Witch Mountain has leaked online via Trailer Addict:
Update: Official Trailer of Race to Witch Mountain Released
RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN
Prepare for an adventure that’s out of this world.
Plot synopsis:
“A UFO expert enlists the help of a cab driver (Dwayne Johnson The Rock) to protect two siblings (AnnaSophia Robb and Alexander Ludwig) with paranormal powers from the clutches of Ciaran Hinds and his organization who want to use the kids for their nefarious plans.” (Source: IMDb)
An interesting sci-fi movie, even if Dwayne Johnson is quite unlikely in the role of a taxi driver turned nanny…

The Secret of Moonacre is an upcoming fantasy family movie adaptation of the novel The Little White Horse written by Elizabeth Goudge. The movie is directed by Hungarian-born director Gabor Csupo (who also directed Bridge to Terabithia). It is starring Dakota Blue Richards (the girl from Golden Compass), Ioan Gruffudd, Tim Curry respectively as Maria Merryweather, Sir Benjamin who is Maria’s uncle, and the villain Coeur De Noir.
The Secret of Moonacre is set to be released on February 6, 2009 in the UK. Unfortunately there is no official release date for the USA yet. But I bet a date will be announced soon: after all it does look good.
Here below the first official trailer of the Secret of Moonacre:
The Secret of Moonacre Trailer
Plot:
“When 13 year old Maria Merryweather’s father dies, leaving her orphaned and homeless, she is forced to leave her luxurious London life to go and live with Sir Benjamin, an eccentric uncle she didn’t know she had, at the mysterious Moonacre Manor. Soon Maria finds herself in a crumbling moonlit world torn apart by the hatred of an ancient feud with the dark and sinister De Noir family. Maria discovers that she is the last Moon Princess and, guided by an unlikely mix of allies, she must overcome her family’s pride in order to unearth the secrets of the past before the 5000th moon rises and Moonacre disappears into the sea forever.” (Source: Wikipedia)
Really hope it will get a wider release. I really like this kind of fantasy movie. Besides the whole family can enjoy it! The Secret of Moonacre is worth watching.
:)
Those aliens are kind of cute, even the villains. The plot of the movie sounds like Gremlins’, but I don’t care: I definitely have to go watch those tiny aliens bringing mayhem in the house! The movie will be released on Friday the 13th 2009.
Update: Movie pushed back to Summer 2009, on July 31, 2009!

Plot synopsis:
“Vietnam veteran John Rambo has survived many harrowing ordeals in his lifetime and has since withdrawn into a simple and secluded existence in Thailand, where he spends his time capturing snakes for local entertainers, and chauffeuring locals in his old PT boat. Even though he is looking to avoid trouble, trouble has a way of finding him: a group of Christian human rights missionaries, led by Michael Burnett and Sarah Miller, approach Rambo with the desire to rent his boat to travel up the river to Burma. For over fifty years, Burma has been a war zone. The Karen people of the region, who consist of peasants and farmers, have endured brutally oppressive rule from the murderous Burmese military and have been struggling for survival every single day. After some inner contemplation, Rambo accepts the offer and takes Michael, Sarah, and the rest of the missionaries up the river. When the missionaries finally arrive at the Karen village, they find themselves part of a raid by the sadistic Major Pa Tee Tint and a slew of Burmese army men. A portion of the villagers and missionaries are tortured and viciously murdered, while Tint and his men hold the remainder captive. Concerned by their disappearance, the minister in charge of the mission gathers a group of mercenaries and pleas Rambo transport them with his boat, since he knows their last exact location. But Rambo can’t stay behind: he joins the team where he belongs, to liberate the survivors from the clutches of Major Tint in what may be one of his deadliest missions ever.”
