Jake Gyllenhaal is the Prince of Persia in the upcoming movie adapted from the famous video game created by Jordan Mechner. Here below the first official poster of Prince of Persia:
Plot:
“Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal) is a 6th century prince of Persia who teams up with Princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton) to rescue the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that controls time, from the hands of the villainous nobleman, Nizam (Ben Kingsley).”
Jake Gyllenhaal looks great as the Prince Dastan, but I’d rather see him as the hero of an Assassin’s Creed movie (i bet there will be a film one day!), he definitely has the profile for it!
:)
I don’t think that the fans of the game have much to worry about with Jake Gyllenhall in the role of Dastan: he looks great, I’m sure he’s perfect for the part.
The movie Prince of Persia, directed by Mike Newell, is set for a release on May 28, 2010.

Plot / Synopsis:
“Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal) is a 6th century prince of Persia who teams up with Princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton) to rescue the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that controls time, from the hands of the villainous nobleman, Nizam (Ben Kingsley).”
Cast:
- Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince Dastan, a sixth-century Persian prince. The character is nameless in the games; Jordan Mechner said he chose the name because it is the Persian word for “trickster”. Gyllenhaal estimated he gained five pounds of muscle for the role.
- Gemma Arterton as Tamina, a feisty and exotic princess. Arterton practiced horse riding in Madrid and did further training in London.
- Ben Kingsley as Nizam, King Shahrman’s brother who plans to kill the ruler and blame the murder on Prince Dastan.
- Alfred Molina as Sheik Amar, a mentor to Prince Dastan.
- Toby Kebbell as Dastan’s brother, head of the Persian army.
I was playing to Jordan Mechner’s Prince of Persia at the very beginning, when it was but a 2D platform game. But I didn’t follow with the following 3D versions. But I’m glad to see The Prince of Persia adapted into a live action movie.
:)
Jake Gyllenhaal got the lead role as Prince Dastan in the movie Prince of Persia The Sands of Time an upcoming cinema adaptation of the videogame of the same name created by Jordan Mechner. Here below, thanks to the Huffington Post (here), two new pics of Jake Gyllenhaal in the Prince of Persia:

There is no denying that Jake Gyllenhaal has really changed since his role in Donnie Darko: he’s become a really handsome man, that most girls would dream to hang out with I’m sure. Being bald I have more empathy with characters like Dr. Manhattan, but I bet that the hairy jake Gyllenhaal will amaze us with his interpretation of Prince Dastan.
The movie Prince of Persia, directed by Mike Newell, is expected to be released end of May 2010.

A behind the scenes preview clip of Prince of Persia The Sands of Time, with a glimpse of some footage, has shown up online thanks to Entertainment Tonight.

It looks like the script of Prince of Persia The Sands of Time, the movie adaptation of the video game of the same name, has leaked online. Just click on the picture below to see the screenplay of Prince of Persia:
Jake Gyllenhaal is gonna kick Ben Kingsley’s ass in Prince of Persia The sands of Time, the upcoming movie adaptation of the video game of the same name. You may see some pictures from the movie sets at:
Jake Gyllenhaal’s physiognomy really matches Dastan’s! And Ben Kingsley is great as Nizam the ambitious vizier: on the picture above Kingsley looks like casting a spell (a friendly one though)!
:)
Game character Dastan from the video game Prince of Persia will have his own movie. Director Mike Newell is indeed working on a movie adapation starring Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead role.
