Captain Kirk is gonna meet the Cloverfield monster’s cousin! Just watch this new clip of Star Trek:

Red Cloverfield-like monster running after Kirk in the snow!

The snow-planet monster, who’s also affectionately named the Big Red, was created by creature guru Neville Page (it worked on Cloverfield, upcoming Avatar and Piranha 3D).

So we knew about Slusho, now there is also Cloverfield: that’s definitely J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek!

J.J. Abrams is definitely fixing a few things with his new Star Trek movie, like allowing something to blossom between Uhura and Kirk:

Star Trek Movie

A Talented Tongue
James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) chats up Uhura (Zoe Saldana) at a bar.

Yep Kirk is hitting on Uhura!

(by the way did you notice Uhura ordering a Slusho, J.J. Abrams’ easter-egg brand!)

Thanks to Yahoo movies we may enjoy some gorgeous high-def preview clips of J.J Abrams’ Star:

Star Trek HD Clips

Where are you from
Captain Robau (Faran Tahir) is questioned by Ayel (Clifton Collins Jr) and Nero (Eric Bana).

One shot to land
James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) and Sulu (John Cho) prepare for a very high altitude jump.

I Dare You To Do Better
Capt. Pike (Bruce Greenwood) has a heart-to-heart with James T. Kirk (Chris Pine)

I was thinking that Wolverine and Star Trek would compete head on. But now I think that Star Trek is going to eclipse Wolverine as soon as J.J. Abram’s movie is released (on May 8, 2009). Wolverine is gorgeous but Star Trek is just divinely awesome!

Star Trek Soundtrack - Star Trek Movie MusicMichael Giacchino (the composer behind Alias, Lost, Mission: Impossible III, and Speed Racer) was in charge of composing the music for J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek.

“I grew up listening to all of that great Trek music, and that’s part of what inspired me to do what I’m doing […] You just go in scared. You just hope you do your best. It’s one of those things where the film will tell me what to do.”
Music Composer Michael Giacchino

Star Trek Spock

Star Trek SpockIn the new Star Trek movie Spock is played by both Zachary Quinto (Scylar from Heroes) and Leonard Nimoy (the original actor). Zachary Quinto plays the younger Spock while Leonard Nimoy now plays the old Spock.

But Zachary Quinto’s Spock isn’t the Spock we were used to, this new young Spock is quite off-balance indeed, and is not the cool-headed from Star Trek TOS.

Here below a new Star Trek movie clip showing Spock (Zachary Quinto) getting angry:

You will answer me.
The youngish Spock definitely wants Kirk and Scott to answer his questions.

Don’t worry Director JJ Abrams isn’t spitting on the original source material: everything fits in the plot, and at the end it shall be in order!

Studying alien languages.
A slightly intoxicated Chris Pine as James T Kirk is hitting on Uhura (Zoe Saldana) in a local bar.

Disease and danger.
James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) gets his first introduction to Leonard “Bones” McCoy (Karl Urban).

JJ Abrams selected the cast quite well: the actors are really a good fit for their respective roles! I especially like the new Dr. McCoy: Urban is awesome in that scene!

The movie Star Trek will be released on May 8, 2009.

Paramount, confident in the success of JJ Abrams’ Star Trek movie, is already thinking about a movie sequel to Star Trek. Well, Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof have been hired to write the script of the movie Star Trek 2.

Alex Kurztman to pen the movie Star Trek 2!

“Obviously we discussed ideas, but we are waiting to see how audiences respond next month. With a franchise rebirth, the first movie has to be about origin. But with a second, you have the opportunity to explore incredibly exciting things. We’ll be ambitious about what we’ll do.”
Scriptwriter Alex Kurtzman

And it’s been announced that the premiere of this new Star trek movie will be in Australia, in Sydney Opera House’s legendary Concert Hall on April 7. Director/producer J.J. Abrams and cast members Eric Bana, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Karl Urban will present the film to 1,600 lucky guests.

I wish I ‘d be among those lucky bastards… Even if to do so I’d have to confront Australian customs services once again , and God knows they are the worst nitpicky people on Earth! Anyway, too bad i’m not invited to the premiere of Star Trek.

Director J.J. Abrams has done a hell of a job with Star Trek!

This new Star Trek is a chronicle of the early days of James T. Kirk and his fellow USS Enterprise crew members. But there is a twist: the Romulan Nero (Eric Bana) went back in time to tweak a few events to get rid of Kirk in his young age…

(John Cho)

(Simon Pegg)

(Karl Urban)

(Anton Yelchin)

Dr. McCoy was my favorite character in Star Trek TOS! But those second roles were all actually very important for the show.
