Thanks to Cartoon Brew we may take a look to a new behind-the-scenes clip of The Princess and the Frog. The featurette introduces us to Dr. Facilier, the villain of this new Disney movie:

The Princess and the Frog

There is no denying Keith David is bringing a lot to his character! His voice makes Dr. Facilier look so real! And I start to think that the most interesting character won’t be Tiana the princess or the Frog, but rather this mean Dr. Facilier! He’s got style!

They really care for details at Disney: an animated movie, it’s more than just animation, voices account for a lot indeed! I’m now confident that The Princess and the Frog will be a great movie.

The Princess and The Frog Trading Cards

The Princess and the FrogThe Princess and the Frog, the latest Disney animated movie, won’t amazed us with its CGI, it’s indeed hand-drawn. But, the characters depicted in this film may conquer the public! Here below a set of cards from the last comic con:

The Princess and the Frog Cards

Princess Tiana

A bright, hard-working resourceful visionary

Naveen

The handsome and gregarious Prince of Maldonia

Ray

The lovesick Cajun firefly

Louis, The Jazz Virtuozo

Fun-loving allogator with a heart of gold and a love of jazz

Dr. Facilier, Master of Shadows

The sinister (yet charismatic) Witch Doctor

Big Daddy

Richest man of all Louisiana

Charlotte

Tiana’s enthusiastic romance-obsessed (very spoiled) debutante friend

Lawrence, the pompous valet

Prince Naveen’s stiff roly-poly (and comically sinister) manservant

Friends from the other sides

Sinister shadows who carry out Dr, Facilier’s dark deeds

James & Eudora, the parents

Tiana’s nurturing mother and inspirational father

Mama Odie

A 200-year-old voodoo priestess, all knowing seer

Two Fingers, Reggie, Darnell, aka The Frog Hunters

The hilarious (though dim-witted) father-son trio of frog hunters

Plot:
“When the free-spirited, jazz-loving Prince Naveen of Maldonia (Bruno Campos) comes to town a deal with a shady voodoo doctor goes bad and the once suave royal is turned into a frog. In a desperate attempt to be human again, a favor in exchange for a fateful kiss on the lips from the beautiful girl, Tiana (Anika Noni Rose), takes an unexpected turn and leads them both on a hilarious adventure through the mystical bayous of Louisiana to the banks of the almighty Mississippi and back in time for Mardi Gras in New Orleans. An unforgettable tale filled with music, humor and heart where two frogs—along with the help of a 200-year-old voodoo priestess, a love-sick Cajun firefly, and a trumpet-playing alligator—discover that what they want isn’t as important as what they need.”

Tiana is a black girl but the frog is actually a white guy. A few people were bugged by Disney’s choice, but I’m all for movies featuring interracial unions: it’s the future of the country after all (just check the last census!), and it’s good to see that Hollywood is adjusting to the reality!

The Princess and the Frog MovieTake a princess and transform her into a frog, then bring her into a jazzy swamp, er I mean a jazzy bayou, not so far away from New Orleans: that’s The Princess and the Frog, the latest animated movie from Disney.

Here below a new batch of pictures of the Princess and the Frog:

I guess that Louis the jazzy alligator and Ray the firefly will steal the show…

THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG

After 75 years of Magic

Walt Disney Pictures brings a classic tale to life!

Plot:
“A fairy tale centered on a young girl named Princess Tiana who lives in New Orleans’ French Quarter during the Jazz Age”

What a lovely a twist to this classic tale: the princess transforms into a frog after kissing the batracian!

But I still can’t say that I’m conquered by this animated movie… Maybe entertaining for my kids, bu not even sure about that… Well I suppose it’s one those movies that parents will force upon their children out of nostalgia… I don’t think this film deserves more a direct to dvd release…

The Princess and The Frog Movie by DisneyProducer John Lasseter presented The Princess and the Frog, Walt Disney Pictures’ latest animated movie during ABC’s half-hour special The Backlot Buzz. He even brought some new footage of the film:

The Princess and the Frog Movie

The Princess and the Frog is a family feature film loosely based upon the book The Frog Princess by E.D. Baker. It marks the return a return to the Disney classic fairy tale. John Lasseter is confident in the quality of The Princess and the Frog and sing the praise of Directors John Musker and Ron Clements. He boasts about the movie:

“Actually seeing an animated film this well-done is like something brand new again.”
Producer John Lasseter

Call me a CGI convert, but I find hard to get excited for this animated movie… It doesn’t look bad, but that’s more something you’d expect to watch on TV with your family on Sunday rather than in a theater…

The movie The Princess and the Frog will be released on December 11, 2009.
