Edge of Darkness MovieEdge of Darkness is yet an other thriller movie about a father who’s looking for answers and revenge, following the murder of his daughter. The film is directed by Martin Campbell and is starring Mel Gibson, Ray Winstone, Danny Huston, Shawn Roberts, Bojana Novakovic, Frank Grillo, Gbenga Akinnagbe. It will be released on January 29, 2010. Here’s the official movie trailer of Edge of Darkness

EDGE OF DARKNESS

Plot:
“Edge of Darkness centers on a veteran cop (Mel Gibson) whose only grown-up child (Bojana Novakovic) is murdered on the steps of his home. The cop unearths his daughter’s secret life and discovers a world of corporate cover-ups and government collusion. Huston takes on the role of a shady businessman while Roberts will play the role of the daughter’s distraught boyfriend.”

Less action than in Taken or in Law Abiding Citizen, but they put more emphasis on the plot in Edge of Darkness. I’d say that Edge of Darkness looks like a solid thriller even if it’s not an exceptional movie…
:-p

20th Century Fox has greenlit the production of a movie sequel to Mirrors, the remake horror movie starring Kiefer Sutherland. Mirrors 2 will be directed by Victor Garcia (who once brought us Return to the House on Haunted Hill). The film will be based on a script by Matt Venne. Surprisingly there is already a synopsis online:

Plot:
“After losing his fiancee in a car crash, for which he blames himself, suicidal Max Matheson reluctantly takes a job as a night watchman at his father’s Mayflower Department Store. When his co-workers are killed off in gruesome and horrible ways and Max begins to see a mysterious young woman in all the store’s mirrors, desperate to communicate with him, he fears he’s losing his mind, or that he may be the next victim.”

Filming of Mirrors 2 is set to start in November, so the movie will probably be released in Summer or Fall 2010.

I wonder if Mirrors 2 will come up with a scene as gruesome as that creepy bathtub scene from the first film: Continue Reading »

Warcraft Live Action

Thanks to MTV we have some update about the upcoming live action Warcrat movie. Director Sam Raimi, who is set to helm the movie Warcraft, told them that Screenwriter Robert Rodat (who penned ‘Saving Private Ryan’) has been hired to undertake the challenge that’s ahead. He also confirmed that the movie would be somehow based on ‘Arthas: Rise of the Lich King’, the Warcraft novel by Christie Golden. But he also adds that they want to integrate elements of the game so to please to gamers:

Sam Raimi talks about his live action Warcraft movie.

“We want to be really faithful to the game. We would have our writer, Robert Rodat, really craft an original story within that world that feels like a ‘World of WarCraft’ adventure. Only obviously it’s very different ’cause it’s expanded and translated into the world of a motion picture.
[...]
the Horde and the Alliance and the mythology that takes place in the game, and the archetypes that the game presents. I think we would try and find touchstones within the game to make it accurate and true and choose one or some of the lands that are portrayed in the game with as much accuracy and authenticity as possible.”
Director Sam Raimy

They’d better respect the game indeed… If they don’t, hordes of Warcraft fans would come to chop them down with medieval axes…
