Describing a post-apocalyptic future must be trendy: there is a a new independent movie titled White Wall that’s presenting a bleak world in which almost all of Mankind seems to have been wiped out by some mysterious virus following a war. The movie White Wall is directed by James Boss.
Upon seeing the director listed in the cast of his own movie I started to think it was but a low budget sci-fi movie. Fortunately I went to the official site and I must admit that I am now caught in the universe of White Wall. I strongly recommend to visit the official site of White Wall (here).
To convince you, just have a look to this first official teaser trailer of White Wall:
Plot:
“A virus has decimated humanity and left the world in squalor and full of violence. Shawn Kors world is confined to a large white wall and he looks for a way out and a cure to the virus, VXII, until he gets close to the truth.
Set in a wasteland enclosed by a large white wall, the last survivor from a brutal child internment camp reluctantly takes on one final bounty hunting job to protect the idyllic life he has rebuilt.”
Here below two stills from the movie (via Quiet Earth):
The movie looks like an artistic take on a potential post-apocalyptic future. Director James Boss shows a real creativity. If the acting is good enough to translate the universe we have a glimpse of on the official site, White Wall could become a cult movie or at least, be a stepping stone for James Boss’ career as film director.
The movie should be released in 2009. No official date yet though, not even sure it will have a theatrical release, but would be great to see this in a theater.

MTV (via Worstpreviews) has talked to Frank Pearce, VP of product development at Blizzard Entertainment. And he confirmed that there is a World of Warcraft movie in development.
“Legendary Pictures is currently trying to assign some names to write the screenplay and find someone to direct it, so it’s still really early in production, they want to make sure they get the right talent for those different parts, especially the screenwriting, because that’s the foundation for the movie.”
Frank Pearce, VP of product development at Blizzard Entertainment
And it looks like it won’t be be all CGI, we should rather expect a live action World of Warcraft movie:
[The idea of a complete CGI movie] has come up in discussions but it’s not something we’ve really considered because it takes so long to generate just the brief amount of footage that we create for the game. [...] That department’s focus is creating the footage for the games to tell the story; it would be a huge undertaking and it’s not really something that we’re ready to do anytime soon.”
Frank Pearce, VP of product development at Blizzard Entertainment
If such an epic fantasy/adventure movie based on the popular video game series is ever released it would be a massive box office success! Let’s keep our fingers crossed for the movie World of Warcraft to happen soon!

Men Who Stare at Goats is an upcoming movie based A movie based on the book of the same name written by Jon Ronson. It is about the US Army’s exploration of New Age concepts and the potential military applications of the paranormal during the war in Iraq. The funny title refers to crazy attempts to kill goats by staring at them.
The film is directed by Grant Heslov and is starring George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges. The movie Men Who Stare at Goats should be released in 2010.
Here below a first look at George Clooney as psychic soldier Lyn Cassady in Men Who Stare At Goats:
Plot:
“A desperate reporter (Ewan McGregor) in Iraq stumbles upon the story of a lifetime when he meets Lyn Cassady (George Clooney), who claims to be a former member of the U.S. Army’s First Earth Battalion, a secret U.S. military psychic unit that employs paranormal powers in their missions. Bridges will play Bill Django, the founder of the psychic soldier program and Lyn’s mentor. Spacey will play Larry Hooper, a former psychic soldier who is running a prison camp in Iraq.”
The premise of this movie sounds strange and funny. Not sure they will play on the comedy tone though, but anyway I am sure that George Clooney will mesmerize us with his performance: I’m already mesmerized by his dorky mustache. Looking forward to see Men Who Stare at Goats!

Season of The Witch is an upcoming fantasy drama movie set during the Middle Age. It is directed by Dominic Sena and starring Nicolas Cage, Ron Perlman, and Claire Foy. The movie is under production with filming currently taking place in the Austrian Alps.
The movie Season of the Witch is slated for a release in 2010.
Thanks to ShockTillYouDrop we’ve got not only the plot synopsis of Season of the Witch but we also have two movie set pictures featuring Nicolas Cage and Ron Perlman in their medieval outfits:
Plot:
“As the Black Plague rages across 14th century Europe, one brave knight Lavey (Nicolas Cage), is tasked with transporting a girl (Claire Foy) suspected of being the witch who caused the pandemic to trial. Believing she is wrongly accused, Lavey and a group of wary followers fight through a mystical and treacherous landscape to a hallowed place where her innocence can be proved and Europe’s curse can be lifted. Unbeknownst to Lavey, even darker forces await them…” (Source: Shock Till You Drop)
The premise is appealing. I hope they will favor a real plot and will avoid to overuse CGI effects… If done well Season of the Witch could be an awesome epic movie!

They Came From Upstairs Trailer
Those aliens are kind of cute, even the villains. The plot of the movie sounds like Gremlins’, but I don’t care: I definitely have to go watch those tiny aliens bringing mayhem in the house! The movie will be released on Friday the 13th 2009.
Update: Movie pushed back to Summer 2009, on July 31, 2009!
