We may have a first look at Whip It!, an upcoming drama comedy movie directed by Actress-turned-director Drew Barrymore and starring Ellen Page:
Plot:
“A misfit girl named Bliss (Ellen Page) is constantly being pressured to enter beauty pageants by her mother, so she joins a roller derby league instead.”
Cast:
- Ellen Page as Bliss Cavendar, a teenage girl who runs away to join an Austin roller derby league.
- Marcia Gay Harden as Bliss’s mother, who would prefer her daughter enter beauty pageants than roller derbies.
- Kristen Wiig as Malice in Wonderland, Bliss’s mentor.
- Alia Shawkat as Pash, Bliss’s best friend.
- Jimmy Fallon as the MC.
- Landon Pigg as Oliver, Bliss’s guitar playing love interest, member of a band.
- Juliette Lewis as Iron Maven, a rival player on Austin’s top team.
- Drew Barrymore as Smashly Simpson, one of Bliss’s teammates
Those girls look like crazy. I guess the movie Whip It will be much more interesting and funny to watch than the usual tale of rebellion against rebellion against parental authority.
