Movie 9Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov are co-producing the movie 9, an upcoming CGI animated science-fiction movie created and directed by Shane Acker. 9 is animated by Attitude Studio (in Luxembourg) and by Starz Animation (in Toronto), with a few sequences done by Duncan Studios in LA and will be released by Focus Features. The film should be released on September 9, 2009, yeap that’s 9.9.9!

The lead voice actors are Elijah Wood, Christopher Plummer, Martin Landau, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly and Crispin Glover.

Here below the first official 9 movie trailer:

9 Movie Official Trailer

Plot:
“When 9 (Elijah Wood) first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world. All humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they’ll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them.”

9

Those doll-like creatures evolving in a post-apocalyptic background look really strange and appealing. I’d say that 9 is a Coraline movie for grown ups.

If you’re wondering about the explosive soundtrack of this 9 trailer it’s the song ‘Welcome Home’ by Coheed and Cambria.

Just to mention the opening song is The Captain by The Knife, off the album Silent Shout.

“I’d say that 9 is a Coraline movie for grown ups.”

9 looks nothing like coraline….Coraline is like A Nightmare Before Christmas…i wouldnt take my kids to it but some might. 9 looks more like a 14 AA movie. either way the animation looks dope and the premise and characters are very intriguing.

  11. John Ryder

Little Big Planet meets Final Fantasy meets Fallout. I’m so in.

Ok, stop, the movie looks good is what you mean to say… You’ve only seen a trailer. The movie Nightmare before Christmas is a freakin awesome movie, if you didn’t take your kids to see it you should burn in hell, although I agree that they shouldn’t have compared this movie to Coraline. If they made it less goofilly animated it could have been like the book. Don’t compare it to Final Fantasy just because they used melee weapons. Proffesor, no one cares, yay for you one year closer to death. The music suits it just fine, it’s just not something you would expect from a Tim Burton film for a trailer.

Antonio- Tim Burton isn’t actually doing this film, he’s just a producer. Shan Acker made the original, it’s his idea and he is the director; therefore, he has better say in what music gets put in, and if he didn’t want Danny Elfman, then he didn’t want him; I mean, go to youtube and look for the original short ‘9 by Shane Acker’. Danny Elfman didn’t do the music for that. And the music is still awesome. Don’t judge before you see the whole thing; for all you know, the music will blow you away in a way Danny Elfman never has. (not that I’m saying it will. Danny Elfman ftw).
I believe they’ve only included Tim Burton’s name to boost interest in the movie. So people expecting something like Tim Burton’s works are probably going to be slightly disappointed.

I am so excited for this movie :D

  26. None of your buisness

No way is the movie 4 adults only. i’m twelve and gonna see it. my mom doesnt care but if she finds out its really violent she’ll stop me

  27. treefrog

If any of you actually read the credits at FilmInFocus Danny Elfman is working with composer Deborah Lurie on the music—what project would Tim Burton be involved in without Danny Elfman???

  28. shelby s

this movie is about the apocolypse.. i think the music is flippin sweet … i think it will blow everybodys minds!! it seems scary… probably not best for kids,..but we’ll see :)

  29. Fox

This movie is gonna rock i was supposed to go see G.I. Joe but screw that movie im gonna go see 9 this weekend

  30. Sarah

Saw it the day it came out, Amazing! Defiantly for 13 and up though, lots of violent scenes and throughout the whole movie the background its self is very graphic. i.e. a beginning scene in the movie shows 9 exploring and coming upon a woman and her daughter dead in a car… so yes, 13 and up only. I’m 19, and I very much enjoyed this film, don’t let the fact that it is animated fool you, this movie is full of adult themes. Overall well made, enjoyable and brilliantly done, I’d say it’s worth the $9.45 (hopefully cheaper for all of you guys) and I’d see it again, had I any spare spending money. =)

  31. Sarah

PS “fox”- G.I. Joe is also an awesome movie, I’d go see that movie again too, haha.

  32. JazGarc
