Keanu Reeves was a good choice: he’s quite good. To a certain extent judging from the glimpse we had Keanu Reeves seems as good as Michael Rennie the actor playing Klaatu in the original 1957 movie.

And in case you missed it, like said in comments, one may see GORT at the end of the Earth Stood Still trailer:

Well, looks like we have Gort as we see him in shadow in the last moment of the trailer. Looks like they’re borrowing a bit from ‘Starman’ with the human body that isn’t what he really is, concept. It seems like some ‘powers that be’ decide that the planet is better off without humans on it and Klaatu arrives to save us.

My favorite movies have always been The Day The Earth Stood Still and War of the Worlds. I was positively blown away when they said they were making a new WOTW. Now my favorite movie of all times comes out next year. How great is that. Will they include the famous lines in the original? It’s going to be interesting how close they stick to the original story line, etc. Can’t wait…

Peter Weller would have been a far better choice IMO as he has many mannerisms similar to Michael Rennie. Keanu is just confused and goofy looking here, as always. At least Will Smith wasn’t cast in the role…

this is for stephen Keanu Reeves is the better choice for this movie. He is not confused or goofy looking. you must be jealous of his looks. He did great in the matrix seriesand every other movie he has been in. I am glad they picked him over anyone else especially peter weller. If they would have picked Will Smith then more power to them. I think stephen you need some acting lessons to learn what good actors really are. You my dear are retarted and not a movie critic THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!! please let me know what movies you do like so i can make sure that i dont watch those. With your choice in movies I am surprised you like anything. NOW back to the movie. I cant wait to see it. I loved the original so this ought to be a real treat with the special effects and the good actors that are in it. Thank you for redoing the movie.
