Director Jonathan English is working on Ironclad, an upcoming action movie set in England during the Middle Age. The film is starring Paul Giamatti, James Purefoy, Brian Cox, Mackenzie Crook, Jason Flemyng, and Kate Mara. Ironclad will be released sometime in 2010.
Thanks to the BBC (here), here’s a clip showing the behind the scenes of Ironclad:
“A ragtag group of veteran warriors hold out for months against the hard-fought siege of Rochester Castle in the thirteenth Century. Set in the time of King John’s signing of the Magna Carta treaty, the group struggles to defend the freedom of their country.”
– Paul Giamatti as King John
– Brian Cox as Albany
– James Purefoy as Marshall
– Mackenzie Crook as Marks
– Jason Flemyng as Beckett
– Derek Jacobi as Cornhill
– Kate Mara as Lady Isabe
The siege of Rochester Castle was one of bloodiest sieges in English history: King John wasn’t quite happy with the terms of Magna Carta and wanted to reclaim his power over England, so he exerted a bloody revenge against those who defied him.
The movie Iron Clad promises not only to be action-packed, but also historically accurate. So we may expect a damn bloody battle!
