Plot synopsis: ” A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, “Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.”
Well, Denis Villeneuve’s does look faithful to Frank Herbert’s novel series. So, are you for an epic movie?
Besides Timothee Chalamet, the cast also includes Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem, Stephen McKinley Henderson, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster.
Paul Atreides is whispering the Litany Against Fear, a litany said to help focus one’s mind in times of peril.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
There’s a new movie adaptation of Dune, the cult epic science-fiction novel series written Frank Herbet and his son Brian Herbet, ahead of us! Legendary Pictures bought the film rights a few months ago. And they just announced that Director Denis Villeneuve (who helmed Sicario, Arrival, and Blade Runner 2049) will be in charge of the project.
I’m fond of the book series. But I think the 1984 movie adaptation, though entertaining, didn’t do justice to the series, so I definitely welcome this new adaptation! Let’s hope the film won’t disappoint.
The film has yet to get an official release date.
Stay tuned with us for more details about the movie Dune. :)
