Divergent vs The Hunger Games?
Better world building but weaker characterization. I think THG will take it. Especially because THG is operating in a vacuum atm. City of Bones didn’t do anything special. Post Twilight, Post Harry Potter. THG got that perfect timing.
Divergent doesn’t have that. It’s coming out the gate fighting against THG trying to prove it’s not another City of Bones. March 2014? That’ll mean it’s fighting against Vampire Academy as well. I actually think VA is positioned (source material-wise) to be the best competition to THG if it can overcome vampire ennui. Divergent airing after it though… could go either way. I’m not sure we can really manage more than two franchises at once so it’s a matter of who is gonna take that “Prince” spot to THG’s “Michael Jackson” spot.
