The Hollywood cinema adaptation of Akira that should be released in 2009 is said to be closer to the Japanese manga than the animated movie.

But well, they’re relocating the story to New Manhattan, a city rebuilt with Japanese money following an horrible explosion in a not-so-distant future…. The purist can but feel dizzy…
