Thanks to EW here’s a first official look at Boy Erased, the upcoming biography drama movie starring Lucas Hedges, Nicole Kidman, Joel Edgerton, Russell Crowe, Xavier Dolan, Troye Sivan, Jesse LaTourette, Britton Sear, David Ditmore, Matt Burke, William Ngo, Lindsey Moser, Emily Hinkler, David Joseph Craig, and Victor McCay:
Plot synopsis:
“The film tells the story of Jared (Lucas Hedges), the son of a Baptist pastor in a small American town, who is outed to his parents (Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe) at age 19. Jared is faced with an ultimatum: attend a gay conversion therapy program – or be permanently exiled and shunned by his family, friends, and faith. ‘Boy Erased’ is the true story of one young man’s struggle to find himself while being forced to question every aspect of his identity.”
Joel Edgerton looks funny with that evil little mustache… He plays the role of Victor Sykes, the head of Love in Action, a gay conversion therapy program.
The film is written and directed by Joel Edgerton. It is based on Garrard Conley’s memoir, titled “Boy Erased: A Memoir”.
Release date: September 28th, 2018 (in theaters).
