Here’s a first official look at Farming, the upcoming drama movie written and directed by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and starring Damson Idris, Kate Beckinsale, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Zephan Amissah, John Dagleish, and Jaime Winstone:
“The electrifying true story of Enitan (Damson Idris), a young Nigerian boy, ‘farmed out’ by his parents to a white British family in the hope of giving him a better future. Instead, Enitan grows up to become the leader of a skinhead gang in 1980’s England.
Driven by themes of identity, power, love and betrayal, FARMING is rich with compelling characters: complex and dubious foster mother Ingrid (Kate Beckinsale), Levi (John Dagleish) the charismatic gang leader whom Eni must overcome, and at its heart our flawed hero, Enitan, a lost and tortured soul, desperately searching for a mother’s love as he struggles to find himself in a brutal world. When all seems lost and Enitan spirals into self-destruction, a benevolent teacher (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) offers him one last chance at redemption…
Farming is a powerful autobiographical story of success and of triumph over one’s extreme adversity. Writer-Director Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje brings this astonishing autobiographical story to the screen with epic vision and raw emotional power.”
How can black man become the feared leader of a white skinhead gang? Well am curious to see that one!
