A first official look at Georgetown, the upcoming crime biography drama movie directed by Christoph Waltz based on a script by David Auburn and starring Christoph Waltz and Vanessa Redgrave:
“In the world of political intrigue and gossip dominating the social scene in Washington, few couples stood out quite like German nationals Elsa Breht (Vanessa Redgrave) and her husband Ulrich Mott (Christoph Waltz). At their shabby townhouse in the fashionable suburb of Georgetown, guests found themselves in lively conversation with former world leaders and Supreme Court judges. The more titillating conversations would focus on the hosts themselves – what was an 80-year-old woman with a rolodex of influential friends doing married to a man of dubious background nearly three decades her junior? For Elsa’s Federal judge daughter Amanda (Annette Bening), it was incomprehensible.
Mott met Elsa shortly after the death of her first husband. Charming, intelligent and eccentric he recounted stories of his life as a Count, a foreign spy and most recently a General in the Iraq Army. To Amanda he was a career con-man using her mother’s influence to build a business with the backing of Washington’s elite. On the morning of August 13th 2011, hours after a lavish dinner hosted by Mott, Elsa was found dead and Mott immediately became prime suspect in her murder. Outwardly grief-stricken, asserting his innocence, he began an increasingly elaborate charade to convince everyone that ‘unknown dark forces’ from his past had killed his wife. Meanwhile, Amanda launched her own investigation revealing an astonishing layer of lies, fabrications and extraordinary delusions of grandeur.”
Well, Actor Christoph Waltz is a bit old to play a murderous gigolo, isn’t he?
Besides Christoph Waltz and Vanessa Redgrave, the cast also includes Annette Bening, Corey Hawkins, Marie Dame, Sergio Di Zio, Paulino Nunes, Noam Jenkins, David Reale, Ron Lea, Sarah Jurgens, Laura de Carteret, Caroline Palmer, Victoria Snow, Dan Lett, Saad Siddiqui, Vickie Papavs, Kevin Jubinville, Michael Hanrahan, Ian D.
