A first official look at Actress Cynthia Erivo in Harriet, the upcoming biography drama movie directed by Kasi Lemmons based on a script she co-wrote with Gregory Allen Howard:

Plot synopsis:
“Based on the story of famed abolitionist, Harriett Tubman (portrayed by Cynthia Erivo), HARRIET follows Tubman on her escape from slavery and subsequent mission to free dozens of slaves through the underground railroad in the face of growing pre-Civil War adversity.”

Besides Cynthia Erivo, the cast also includes Leslie Odom Jr., Janelle Monáe, Joe Alwyn, Jennifer Nettles, and Clarke Peters.
