Director Guillermo del Toro recently said that the Hellboy 3 movie we’ve been waiting for is more or less dead because there’s no studio willing to finance… So dead that he even ventured to give away some new plot details of what would have been the focus of the film:

He has to become the beast of the Apocalypse to be able to defend humanity, but at the same time he becomes a much darker being. It’s a very interesting ending to the series, but I don’t think it will happen.”
