Heart of the Sea Movie directed by Ron Howard

Director Ron Howard (who helmed Rush and The Da Vinci Code) is currently filming Heart of the Sea, an upcoming period drama based on the novel “In The Heart of the Sea” written by Nathaniel Philbrick about the loss of the whaling ship Essex in the Pacific Ocean in 1820. The filmmaker shared a few behind-the-scenes pictures via his official Twitter account:

Plot:
“Based on the 1820 event, a whaling ship is preyed upon by a sperm whale, stranding its crew at sea for 90 days, thousands of miles from home.”

The film is starring Chris Hemsworth, Cillian Murphy, Ben Wishaw, Brendan Gleeson, Benjamin Walker, Paul Anderson, and Charlotte Riley.

There’s no official release date yet. It should hit theaters sometime in 2014.

True Detective Trailer

Thanks to HBO here’s the latest trailer of True Detective, a new drama TV series starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson:

Plot:
“In 2012, Louisiana State Police Detectives Rust Cohle and Martin Hart are brought in to revisit a homicide case they worked in 1995. As the inquiry unfolds in present day through separate interrogations, the two former detectives narrate the story of their investigation, reopening unhealed wounds, and drawing into question their supposed solving of a bizarre ritualistic murder in 1995. The timelines braid and converge in 2012 as each man is pulled back into a world they believed they’d left behind. In learning about each other and their killer, it becomes clear that darkness lives on both sides of the law.”

The show is set to premiere January 12, 2014 on HBO and consists of eight episodes.
