Whisky Galore Movie Trailer

Whisky Galore MovieWe’ve got our hand son the first official trailer of Whisky Galore, the upcoming comedy movie remake directed by Gillies Mackinnon based on a script by Peter Mcdougall and starring Gregor Fisher, Eddie Izzard, Sean Biggerstaff, Naomi Battrick, Kevin Guthrie, and Ellie Kendrick:

WHISKY GALORE
Plot synopsis:
“The inhabitants of the isolated Scottish island of Todday in the Outer Hebrides are largely unaffected by wartime rationing, until the island’s supply of whisky runs out…!
As misery descends across the island, two inhabitants – the daughters of island patriarch and Post Office Master Joseph Macroon – are finding their own happiness; Peggy is being courted by Sergeant Odd who has returned to the island on leave from the army and her sister Catriona has just become engaged to school teacher George, though his domineering mother is trying her best to keep them apart. Island life goes on but without their beloved nectar until one night the freighter S.S. Cabinet Minister runs aground in heavy fog and begins to sink…
Alerted to the nearby catastrophe, Biffer and Sammy row out to investigate and are ecstatic to learn from the departing crew that the ship’s cargo consists of 50,000 bottles of whisky bound for America! Hallelujah and praise the Lord! But alas! As the villagers prepare to rescue the cases of whisky, McAlister the island’s Minister, appears and loudly exclaims that the Sabbath fast approaches and no work must be done on the Day of the Lord. So, as the chimes of midnight are heard, the islanders reluctantly return home, staring out to sea and hoping that the ship won’t sink before the rescue is underway.
And so begins an extraordinary true tale of how the islanders of Todday came to find their own little treasure trove of happiness during the ravages of WWII…fighting their own battles to secure reserves of their beloved amber nectar despite the raging sea, the meddlings of a stuffy Home Guard commander and the appearance of a local customs officer.”
