SNOWDEN

A film by Oliver Stone.

Plot synopsis:
“Academy Award-winning director Oliver Stone, who brought Platoon, Born on the Fourth of July, Wall Street and JFK to the big screen, tackles the most important and fascinating true story of the 21st century. Snowden, the politically-charged, pulse-pounding thriller starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shailene Woodley, reveals the incredible untold personal story of Edward Snowden, the polarizing figure who exposed shocking illegal surveillance activities by the NSA and became one of the most wanted men in the world. He is considered a hero by some, and a traitor by others. No matter which you believe, the epic story of why he did it, who he left behind, and how he pulled it off makes for one of the most compelling films of the year.”

Snowden is but a fame-hungry traitor seeking worldwide notoriety. He may hide in Russia right now, but justice will catch up with him sooner or later!

Ben-Hur Movie – Chariot race

Ben-Hur 2016This new behind-the-scenes featurette of Ben-Hur was released online so you know they didn’t use CGI for the chariot race, yep, they used real chariots pulled by real horses:

BEN-HUR
Plot synopsis:
“The epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves (Nazanin Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but finds redemption. Based on Lew Wallace’s timeless novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ.”

Director Timur Bekmambetov is comparing chariot racing to NASCAR… but well, I’d rather watch a chariot race with horses than a NASCAR race and its gas-guzzling cars! And you?

The film will open in theaters in August 19, 2016.

PETE’S DRAGON

Some secrets are too big to keep.

Plot synopsis:
“A reimagining of Disney’s cherished family film, ‘Pete’s Dragon’ is the adventure of an orphaned boy named Pete and his best friend Elliott, who just so happens to be a dragon.
For years, old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) has delighted local children with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales…until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley). Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliott. And from Pete’s descriptions, Elliott seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham’s stories. With the help of Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon.”

The remake does look good, but why did they have to come up with a fury dragon instead of the traditional scaly dragon? Is it just a marketing trick to boost stuffed toy sales? Will the change turn you into a plushie?

Any idea what’s the sculpture behind them? I see a bell, an angel with a sword, plague doctors, a three-headed beast, and what else?

3 Clips of Equals

He becomes an outcast once infected and is drawn to his writer co-worker Nia (Kristen Stewart), whom is also infected but hiding her condition. In order to survive, they have to escape together.”

The fat bumblebee doesn’t look like much of a flyer, indeed. But it does fly, so obviously, it doesn’t “violate the law of physics” contrary to what Kristen Stewart’s character said.
