Have you ever heard about emojis? Yep, am talking about those are little ideograms and smileys used in electronic messages and Web pages. Well, emojis are set to make it to the big screen. Sony Pictures Animation is indeed developing an animated movie revolving around that will offer a surprising and comic take on the secret world of our phones and the little characters that have become daily necessities in global interpersonal communication.
The film is currently titled “The Emoji Movie”. Director Anthony Leondis is directing based on a script he co-wrote with Eric Siegel.
Here’s the plot synopsis:
“The story of Gene, an emoji that lives inside a texting app on a teenager’s smartphone. In Gene’s world, each emoji has only one expression, but gene is different — he’s bursting with multiple expressions. Gene is worried that if he can’t find a way to be ‘normal’, he’ll disappoint his family, or worse, be deleted. Determined to change his unusually expressive personality, gene needs a ‘code’ that will fix his programming and make him like everyone else. With the help of his emoji friends, Gene’s search takes him on a fun-filled adventure across the teenager’s smartphone, from his hope in a texting app through a succession of apps (including a gaming app, a music streaming app, a photo-sharing app, a video streaming app, a dance app, and a file-sharing app).”
A look at the movie logo:
The release date of The Emoji movie is set to August 11 , 2017.
