Sounds like there’s a sequel to the 2014 science-fiction Edge of Tomorrow ahead of us! Actually, back in July 2015 Tom Cruise already revealed to MTV he had an idea for a possible sequel:

I pitched it to Christopher McQuarrie and Doug Liman. We were there one night and I was like, ‘I’ve got an idea for it.’… It could be so much fun. Gotta get Emily Blunt.”

But it’s only now that we hear again about the sequel. Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse have indeed been hired to pen a script. And Director Doug Liman will helm the project.

The film has yet to get an official release date.

Besides Scarlett Johansson, the cast also includes Takeshi Kitano, Michael Pitt, Pilou Asbaek, Juliette Binoche, Kaori Momoi, Danusia Samal, Yutaka Izumihara, and Tuwanda Manyimo.

The release date is set to March 31, 2017.
