Hello Kitty Movie

There’s a Hello Kitty movie ahead of us! Yep, the iconic little cat is going to make it to the big screen. The Japanese company Sanrio, the official home of Hello Kitty, is planning indeed to develop a feature film.

Hello Kitty

We don’t yet if it will a full CGI animated movie or a movie blending CGI an live footage. They’re setting up a budget in the $200 million range. The film will be developed by Sanrio’s US subsidiary in order, I guess, to reach a wider public. They’re eyeing a 2019 release.

The little white kitten has no real established backstory: it was created by Sanrio in the 1970’s and they didn’t bother giving it a backstory at that time. Its cuteness was more than enough. But a few TV series have since been developed. Not sure if those will influence the film though.

Anyway, stay tuned with us for more details about the movie Hello Kitty.
