Actor Ian McKellen (yes, Gandalf!) has got the lead role as a long-retired Sherlock Holmes in Mr. Holmes, an upcoming crime drama movie directed by Bill Condon and based on the 2005 novel ” A Slight Trick of the Mind” by Mitch Cullin. here’s a first official picture:

Plot:
“Set in 1947, MR. HOLMES follows a long-retired Sherlock Holmes (Ian McKellen), who lives in a sleepy village outside of London with his housekeeper Mrs Munro (Laura Linney) and her amateur-sleuthing son (Milo Parker).
With his legendary mental powers on the wane and minus his sidekick Watson, Holmes becomes haunted by an unsolved case from 50 years ago where he remembers only fragments: a confrontation with an angry husband and a secret bond with his beautiful but unstable wife.”

The film, like the novel, will feature flashbacks and will go between time periods.

Besides Ian McKellen and Laura Linney, the cast also includes Hattie Morahan, Hiroyuki Sanada, Patrick Kennedy, Colin Starkey (who plays the role of Dr John Watson), Roger Allam, Milo Parker, and Philip Davis.

Here’s a first look at Life, the upcoming drama movie directed by Anton Corbijn (the man behind “The American“) based on a script by Luke Davies and starring Robert Pattinson,Dane DeHaan, Ben Kingsley, and Joel Edgerton:

Plot:
“LIFE is inspired by the true story of a friendship that developed between Magnum photographer Dennis Stock (Robert Pattinson) and actor James Dean (Dane DeHaan) when Stock was commissioned to photograph the actor for LIFE magazine in 1955.
The assignment, which took the pair on a photographic journey across the US, from LA to New York and on to Indiana would change Stock’s life and provide the world with some of the most iconic images of the age.”

Actor Dane DeHaan doesn’t really look like James Dean, but I don’t mind… Do you?

Anyway, are there still fans of James Dean out there? Do you even know who he was? The chap may have become a cultural icon, but let’s be honest: he didn’t do that much in his short life…

Actor Jesse Eisenberg and Actress Kristen Stewart were spotted on the set of American Ultra, the upcoming action comedy movie directed by Nima Nourizadeh based on a script by Max Landis:

Plot:
“A story about an unmotivated stoner named Mike (Jesse Eisenberg), who lives with his girlfriend Phoebe (Kristen Stewart), in a small, sleepy town.
One night, their lives take an unexpected turn when Mike’s past comes back to haunt him, and he becomes the target of a government operation set to wipe him out.”

Jesse Eisenberg revealed a few more plot details in an interview with The Guardian back in July 2014:

“We just finished filming this movie so it is a bit early to digest, but it was a wonderful experience playing this role, which is a guy who has no direction in life who discovers he was brainwashed to be a fighter in a government program based on the MK-Ultra program in the States. It turns from a very personal and intimate story of my character and his girlfriend, played by Kristen Stewart, into a stylized and kinetic movie about this guy being hunted.”

Besides Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart, the cast includes Connie Britton, Topher Grace, John Leguizamo, and Walton Goggins.

The film has yet to get an official release date.

For those who don’t know, according to Wikipedia, MKULTRA was the code name given to an illegal and clandestine program of experiments on human beings made by the CIA: the experiments were intended to identify and develop drugs and procedures to be used in interrogations and torture, in order to weaken the individual to force confessions through mind control. But well, I guess nothing really useful came out of those experiments otherwise they wouldn’t need Guantanamo (by the way have you seen Kristen Stewart in Camp X-Ray?) …
