Jonah Hill, who is a fan of 21 Jump Street, has been working on a script of a movie adaptation the famous police TV series. Looks like the project is getting some traction now: Jonah Hill got some support from Columbia Pictures, and according to the rumor, Phil Lord and Chris Miller (the duo who co-directed Cloudy with A chance of Meatballs) are in negotiations to direct the film!

The original show was a real stepping stone for Johnny Depp’s career. Jonah Hill has prepared a cameo for Depp who would be interested:

I’d be really thrilled if Johnny Depp was somehow involved in this 21 Jump Street movie!

If you don’t remember, 21 Jump Street was an hour-long police drama TV series that started to aired in 1987 on the FOX Networking. Here’s the unforgettable opening of 21 Jump Street:

Alpha and omega is an upcoming 3D CGI animated movie directed by Anthony Bell and Ben Gluck and produced by Lionsgate. Hayden Panettiere and Justin Long are lending their voices to two wolves, the protagonists of the story. The film will be released on October 10, 2010.

Plot:

Judging from the picture above, the movie Alpha and Omega won’t look a good as a Dreamworks or a Disney Pixar movie… But that cute wolf could win my heart any day, even if the CGI isn’t top-notch… And I can imagine intense 3D rides though the forest during the epic journey of Alpha and Omega.

The Tree of Life is a period drama fantasy movie directed by Terrence Malick and starring Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Jessica Chastain. The film will be released sometime in 2010.

Each parent contends for his allegiance, and Jack must reconcile their claims. The picture darkens as he has his first glimpses of sickness, suffering and death. The world, once a thing of glory, becomes a labyrinth.
Framing this story is that of adult Jack, a lost soul in a modern world, seeking to discover amid the changing scenes of time that which does not change: the eternal scheme of which we are a part. When he sees all that has gone into our world’s preparation, each thing appears a miracle — precious, incomparable. This plot doesn’t tell as much as one may think: the Tree of Life hasn’t been really unveiled yet. According to the rumor, Director Terrence Malick would mix some mysterious prehistoric scene or something like that to the film! Sounds a bit far fetched, but it could bring a great surprise.

Director Jay Roach has stepped aside to let Director Paul Weitz (who once brought us About a Boy and The Vampire’s Assistant) take over the Meet the Parents comedy movie franchise. The new movie sequel to Meet the Fockers is titled Little Fockers. The film is starring Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Barbra Streisand, Dustin Hoffman, Teri Polo and Owen Wilson (the cast from the previous movies) are returning for the Little Fockers. It’s already in post-production and will be released on July 30, 2010.

– Gaylord “Greg” Myron Focker (Ben Stiller): The main character of the movie. He was a nurse living in Chicago with his wife Pam, the daughter of a retired CIA agent. He is now a proud father of five-year old twins.

– Pamela Martha Byrnes/Focker (Teri Polo): Greg’s wife and mother to his two 5-year old twins. She was engaged briefly to Kevin before marrying Greg.

– Rosalind “Roz” Focker (Barbra Streisand): Greg’s mother and Bernie’s wife. She is a sex therapist for elderly people.

– Kevin Rawley (Owen Wilson): He was once Pam’s fiancee. His role in this film will be much larger than that of previous films.

– Headmistress (Laura Dern): She is the headmistress of the elementary school attended by the twins.

– Jessica Alba: She will play the role of an extremely attractive pharmaceutical representative whose looks wreak havoc on the male characters in the story.

– Henry Focker (Colin Baiocchi): The son of Greg and Pam. Twin brother of Samantha Focker.

– Samantha Focker (Daisy Tahan): Daughter of Greg and Pam. Twin sister of Henry Focker.

– Tamyra (Raven-Symoné): She will be the nanny/babysitter of Greg and Pam’s 5-year old twins.

I’m quite confident that the movie Little Fockers will be a real blockbuster comedy movie this Summer 2010. I’m quite impatient to see how Jack Byrnes (Robert de Niro) how will behave now that he is grandfather! The Little Fockers is going to be an hilarious movie.

I would have imagined Russell Crowe who’s a bit fat as the jovial Friar Tuck rather than as the slim Robin Hood from the story (I’d rather see an actor like Jude Law as Robin Hood). But Crowe is a good actor and he will for sure manage to amaze us with his performance.

Michael Cera got the lead role in Scott Pilgrim, aka Scott Pilgrim vs the World, an upcoming live-action movie adaptation of the comic book series Scott Pilgrim by Bryan Lee O’Malley. The film is directed by Director Edgar Wright. And along Michael Cera, it is starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Chris Evans, Brandon Routh, Aubrey Plaza, Kieran Culkin, Brie Larson, Mae Whitman, Ellen Wong, Anna Kendrick, Mark Webber, Alison Pill and Satya Bhabha. Scott Pilgrim is a fantasy comedy movie about a young guy who must battle the evil ex-boyfriends of his new girlfriend. It will be released in 2010.

Director Tom Dey is working on a live-action movie adaptation of Marmaduke, the popular comic strip about Marmaduke the funny Great Dane Dog. The film will be told from the viewpoint of Marmaduke. It will be released on June 4, 2010.

Director Tom Dey compares his Marmaduke film to a coming of age comedy movie:

“We’ve approached the movie like a John Hughes movie with dogs. The dog park is like high school for dogs. To make this kind of movie, you really have to understand that it is the dog’s world and we just live in it.

This Marmaduke movie could well be funny: that dog and his ears make me smile already. And knowing that Actor Owen Wilson is lending his voice to Marmaduke, I’m quite sure it’s going to be hilarious!

Besides Owen Wilson the film is also starring Emma Stone, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Ron Perlman, Judy Greer, Anjelah Johnson, Lee Pace and Steve Coogan.

One don’t really need to be a soothsayer to forecast the production of a third installment of the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie series. Yep, I bet you that we will see Alvin and the Chipmunks 3 in a not so distant future. The second opus isn’t in theaters yet, but it’s almost assured to generate a windfall of revenue for Fox, like the first one did. Producing a Alvin and the Chipmunks movie costs just $60 million and brings in more than $300 million, so it does make sense for Fox to greenlight Alvin and the Chipmunks 3. Besides the public asks for it: a movie with cute singing critters is family must-see during the Christmas season.

So yes, we can be confident that Alvin and the Chipmunks 3 will come to theaters, most probably in December 2011.

We get to know Alvin and the Chipmunks in the first film, now we’re going to meet the chipettes in the second movie. What could be the plot of Alvin and the Chipmunks 3? Are they going to reinvent the source material or will they bring some real new story?

It would be great if they really focus on the early story between Xavier and Magneto, but then what would be left for a Magneto movie? I start to think that they should release the movie Magneto before doing First Class… I’m afraid that if they do First Class, they would scrap the spin-off Magneto movie…
