20th Century Fox has released a new movie trailer of Percy Jackson:

Plot:
“A young man discovers that he is descended from a Greek god and embarks, with the aid of a satyr and the daughter of Athena, on a dangerous adventure amidst a war between the Gods.”

There is some real wisdom in the movie Percy Jackson: a simple pen can indeed become one of the mightiest weapon! Just depends on who’s holding it and how!

The Lightning Thief is the first movie of a potential Percy Jackson franchise based on the series of adventure and fantasy books authored by Rick Riordan. Percy Jackson is a good excuse to rediscover Greek mythology.

“A young boy named Percy Jackson (Logan Lerman) discovers that he is the half-human son of the Greek god, Poseidon (Kevin McKidd), and embarks on a journey across modern-day America to save his mother (Catherine Keener), return Zeus’ (Sean Bean) stolen lightning bolt, and prevent a war between the gods.”

I don’t disdain this movie but I’d rather watch a movie adaptation of Dan Simmons’ Illium/Olympos (–>learn more about Simmon’s book)!

Percy Jackson that’s for Kids. Illium/Olympos that’s for everybody!

The movie Percy Jackson is directed by Chris Columbus, it’s based on the book series written by Rick Riordan. I don’t really expect this to be a new Harry Potter, but it could compete with movies like Narnia.

Chris Columbus, the director behind the first two Harry Potter movies, is tackling the adaptation of Percy Jackson & The Olympians a series of novels written by Rick Riordan. Well, only the first book, The Lightning Thief, is being adapted for now, but if this first movie is a success, for sure sequels will follow. I’m all for this kind of fantasy movie but I just hope that they won’t be greedy and will first put all their energy on the Lightning Thief. Narnia didn’t really survive the hype and the series is now in limbo. So I hope that Director Chris Colombus does focus on this movie to make it as great as this first teaser trailer is promising before thinking about any sequel.

The movie Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Lightning Thief is starring Logan Lerman, Brandon T. Jackson, Alexandra Daddario, Jake Abel, Pierce Brosnan (as Chiron), Catherine Keener and Uma Thurman (as Medusa). The film is set for a release on February 12, 2010.
