Here’s a first official look at Amanda Seyfried and Ethan Hawke in First Reformed, the upcoming drama thriller movie written and directed by Paul Schrader:

Plot synopsis:
“Ex military chaplain Toller (Ethan Hawke) is tortured by the loss of the son he encouraged to enlist, and struggles with his faith. A faith that’s challenged befriending a radical environmentalist, Michael (Philip Ettinger), and upon learning of his church’s complicity with unscrupulous corporations. When Michael unexpectedly commits suicide, Toller decides to continue and set in motion Michael’s perilous plan during a gathering of corporate heads at his church’s historic reconsecration. A mission that may finally restore the faith and purpose he so longs for…
Amanda Seyfried plays the role of Michael’s wife who’s also a member of the church.”
