GOLD

Plot:
“An unlikely pair venture to the Indonesian jungle in search of gold.
Based on the Bre-X mining scandal of 1997 and inspired by a true story of a modern-day prospector who, desperate for a lucky break, teams up with a similarly eager geologist in order to find gold in the deepest, darkest Indonesia—sparking an adventure that goes right through to the boardrooms of Wall Street.”

Yep, maybe hard to believe, but that sweaty balding man on the left is Matthew McConaughey!

Besides Matthew McConaughey and Edgar Ramirez, the cast also includes Bryce Dallas Howard, Corey Stoll, Bruce Greenwood, and Toby Kebbell.

There’s no official release date yet. The film should hit theaters sometime in 2016.

Hi. The Bre-X scandal wasn’t Wall Street, it was the Vancouver Venture Exchange, which focused on gold and oil juniors. That exchange has now been rolled into the Toronto Venture Exchange and is now better regulated. The VSX was the wild west, all sorts of shady promoters made and lost fortunes on that exchange. I remember well the front pages of the Vancouver Sun “Bre-X up 300%” etc. I sure hope the movie gets the facts straight, especially the pretty much unregulated nature of the VSX. Would be especially fun if they show some of those newspaper front pages. It was insanity in Vancouver for several months.
