Plot synopsis:
“A modern day adaptation of the ancient Greek play Lysistrata by Aristophanes, set against the backdrop of gang violence in Chicago. After the murder of a child by a stray bullet, a group of women led by Lysistrata organize against the on-going violence in Chicago’s Southside creating a movement that challenges the nature of race, sex and violence in America and around the world.”

From left to right you may recognize John Cusack, Nick Cannon, and Samuel L. Jackson.

Swiss Army Man Movie

I’ve just spotted the first official picture of Swiss Army Man, the upcoming drama comedy adventure movie written and directed by Daniel Scheinert and Dan Kwan and starring Paul Dano, Daniel Radcliffe, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead:

SWISS ARMY MAN

Plot synopsis:
“Hank (Paul Dano), a hopeless man stranded in the wild, discovers a mysterious dead body (Daniel Radcliffe). Together the two embark on an epic journey to get home. As Hank realizes the body is the key to his survival, this once-suicidal man is forced to convince a dead body that life is worth living.”

How do you befriend a dead body? Any idea?

There’s no official release date yet. but the film will premiere at the Sundance film festival.

The Birth of a Nation Movie

We’ve got our hands on the first official pictures of The Birth of a Nation, the upcoming drama movie written and directed by Nate Parker and starring Nate Parker, Armie Hammer, Aja Naomi King, Jackie Earle Haley, and Gabrielle Union:

Plot synopsis:
“Set in the 19th-century Southern United States before the Civil War, this story follows Nat Turner (Nate Parker), a literate slave and preacher, whose financially strained owner, Samuel Turner, accepts an offer to use Nat’s preaching to subdue unruly slaves. After witnessing countless atrocities against fellow slaves, Nat devises a plan to lead his people to freedom.”

Feeling like you heard that movie title before? Well, this new movie shares the same title as some racist movie released in 1915, it fell into public domain and is available on youtube:


The Birth of a Nation (1915 film by D.W Griffith)

Don’t worry Nat Parker’s movie isn’t a remake of that old racist film. Nate Parker’s The Birth of a Nation is on the good side of the force and will redeem the title it shares with Griffith’s movie!

The film has yet to get an official release date.

While I can recognize they did a hell of a job here, I don’t really get why they just didn’t use CG animation for this particular movie….

The film is directed by Charlie Kaufman and Duke Johnson. It will be released on December 30, 2015.
