Ricky Gervais is back with The Invention of Lying, a sweet comedy that somewhat reverses the premise of Jim Carrey’s Liar Liar. Watch the trailer of the Invention of Lying below:
THE INVENTION OF LYING
Imagine a world where everyone can only tell the truth,
and no-one has ever lied:
No big lies, no small lies, not even white lies…
Until one man discovered how!
Plot:
“The film is set on an alternate Earth where no one has ever lied, and stars Gervais as a performer who tells the world’s first lie, coming to wield its power for personal gain.”
The Invention of Lying looks like a nice lighthearted comedy. I guess I’ll have a good laugh watching it when it hits theaters on September 25, 2009.
:)
In the future a new form of entertainment will be unleashed!
This Fall
Some live to play others play to live
with Gerard Butler
Plot:
“Set in the near-future, mind-control technology has taken society by storm and a multiplayer on-line game called ‘Slayers’ allows humans control other humans in mass-scale. Simon controls Kable (Gerard Butler) the on-line champion of the game, and with his every move tracked by millions, his ultimate challenge becomes regaining his identity and independence by defeating the game’s mastermind (Hall) through launching an attack on the system that has imprisoned him.”
Curious to see more of the scene showing John Leguizamo talking to Gerard Butler. Hope to get a preview clip of the movie Gamer soon!

The movie Daybreakers is an upcoming sci-fi vampire film written and directed by Peter and Michael Spierig. The film is reversing the usual demographics we are used to see in Vampire movie: in Daybreakers Mankind is the new minority! Daybreakers is starring Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe, and Sam Neill. It is scheduled for a release on January 8, 2010.
Here the first official movie trailer of Daybreakers released by Lionsgate:
DAYBREAKERS
Imagine a world where almost everyone is a vampire.
No one grows old and the remaining humans are hunted and farmed for blood
This winter the battle between immortality and humanity is on!
Plot:
“Ethan Hawke plays Edward Dalton, a researcher in the year 2019, in which an unknown plague has transformed the world’s population into vampires. As the human population nears extinction, vampires must capture and farm every remaining human, or find a blood substitute before time runs out. However, a covert group of vampires makes a remarkable discovery, one which has the power to save the human race.”
Cast:
– Ethan Hawke as Edward Dalton, a vampire researcher who tries to save humanity from extinction.
– Sam Neill as a vampire in charge of a corporation.
– Willem Dafoe as a vampire who duels with Hawke’s character.
– Claudia Karvan as Lucy, Edward’s love interest.
– Vince Colosimo in an unnamed role.
– Isabel Lucas as the last surviving member of the human race.
I think I’d be glad to forgo the status of human in exchange of immortality. And about the blood farms: ok, sure, it’s disgusting. The premise of the movie is that artificial blood (true blood?) can’t be done (at least not fast enough, just to create some suspense). But recent research lets us expect real artificial blood that works in a not-too-distant future. More than vampirism, I’d be appealed by immortality for sure!
The Box is an upcoming thriller movie adapted from Richard Matheson’s short story Button, Button. The film is directed by Richard Kelly and is starring Cameron Diaz, James Marsden and Frank Langella. You may watch here below the first official movie trailer of The Box:
THE BOX
An ordinary family whose dreams are slipping away
But tonight everything will change
From the director of Donnie Darko
Plot:
“A small wooden box arrives on the doorstep of a married couple, who open it and become instantly wealthy. Little do they realize that opening the box also kills someone they do not know …”
This movie is not the first adaptation of Richard Matheson’s short story. It was also the plot of an episode of the television series The New Twilight Zone (second segment of the twentieth episode from the first season, 1985-1986):
Judging from the trailer of the new version I’m not sure Cameron Diaz looks mean and greedy enough for the part… But well, maybe Director Richard Matheson is playing on this in the movie The Box.

In the movie Ice Age 3 Sid the ground sloth wants to have children, he took care of eggs he found. Unfortunately his “kids” are young T-Rex dinosaurs…. And he’s trying to raise them vegetarian (Sid is maybe the first member ever of PETA?):
I’m raising them vegetarian
The name is Buck!

Plot:
“The story follows the adventures of Aang, a ten year old successor to a long line of Avatars, who must put his childhood ways aside and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations.”
The movie The Last Aibender is adapted from the animated series of the Avatar that aired on Nicklelodeon. The film is directed by M. Night Shyamalan.
Judging from what we see I’d say that Shyamalan’s take on Avatar The Last Airbender is going to be a bit darker than the animated series. But M. Night Shyamalan stated that he was doing the movie for a large public so it won’t diverge by too much. Love the boats from the Fire nation:
I’m impressed by the skills in martial arts of Noah Ringer who plays the role of Aang the Avatar:
And I’m definitely found of Noah Ringer as Aang the Avatar! He looks damn great!
So impatient to watch he Last Airbender movie!

Imagine a nightmarish mechanical vulture: that’s the winged beast the poor rag dolls have to confront in this new extended preview clip of Shane Acker’s 9, an upcoming sci-fi animated movie produced by Timur Bekmambetov and Tim Burton:
2 years ago the terror vanished.
Then the visions began…
Now the nightmares will become reality!
From Writer / Director ROB ZOMBIE
Family is forever.
This new Halloween movie takes place directly after the end of Rob Zombie’s first remake: the film is going to show of Michael Myers’ murderous rampage through the eyes of Laurie Strode, the sister he hunted.
I thought Jason was the scariest freak in horror movies, but now I start to think that Mike Myers is probably scarier…
The plot of Inglourious Basterds is more than a murderous rampage for revenge: there is more complexity in it than we may have first thought. I’m confident that Inglourious Basterds will be a great Tarantino movie
:)
In Transformers the AllSpark is an artifact adorned with glyphs and designs which is capable of granting independent life and transformation ability to normal electronic and mechanical objects: it is the source of life for all Transformers. We may have a better look at the Allspark in this extended scene of Transformers 2, aka Transformers Revenge of the Fallen:
Kitchen robots come to life thanks to the AllSpark fragment.
Plot synopsis:
“A youth chooses manhood. The week Sam Witwicky starts college, the Decepticons make trouble in Shanghai. A presidential envoy believes it’s because the Autobots are around; he wants them gone. He’s wrong: the Decepticons need access to Sam’s mind to see some glyphs imprinted there that will lead them to a fragile object that, when inserted in an alien machine hidden in Egypt for centuries, will give them the power to blow out the sun. Sam, his girlfriend Mikaela Banes, and Sam’s parents are in danger. Optimus Prime and Bumblebee are Sam’s principal protectors. If one of them goes down, what becomes of Sam?”
All those little robots look like a bunch of mechanical Gremlins: they’re as naughty and dangerous!

The Mayan calendar predicted it, science has confirmed it.
But we never imagined it could really happen…

Comments Off on New Trailer of GI Joe Rise of Cobra
You may watch below the latest trailer of GI joe Rise of Cobra, the upcoming sci-fi action movie based on the universe of Hasbro’s action figures of the same name:
Fortunately they release some good trailer again: I was starting to feel that the bad buzz was deserved (poor suits, ugly posters…) but I must admit that this new GI JOE movie trailer looks awesome. And I appreciate that they try to put some humor in the movie.
;-P
You may watch below an explosive remix trailer of Gamer, the upcoming sci-fi movie directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor and starring Gerard Butler:
This thing, which is based on the previous official Gamer trailer, was created by San Francisco’s Mike Relm before being endorsed by Lionsgate. Lucky him!
