Director Guy Ritchie is bringing a brand new version of Sherlock Holmes with his latest movie. The film is starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law respectively as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson.
Here below the first official Sherlock Holmes trailer:
Now I understand why RDJ was chosen to play as Sherlock Holmes instead of Jude Law: RDJ is perfect for this somewhat clownish version of Sherlock Holmes. I mean easier to laugh with RDJ than with Jude Law… No offense Jude!
Guy Ritchie’s movie isn’t your grandfather’s Sherlock Holmes but I bet that the new generations will love it!
:)
10 years from now one event will change the face of the planet…
Wake, Search, Move, Hide
From Cormac McCarthy
Author of
“No country for old men”
At the end of Civilization, an epic journey is about to begin
This Fall
Run, Protect, Sacrifice, Kill
Plot:
“A father (Viggo Mortensen) and his son (Kodi Smit-McPhee) walk alone through burned America. Nothing moves in the ravaged landscape save the ash on the wind. It is cold enough to crack stones, and, when the snow falls it is gray. The sky is dark. Their destination is the coast, although they don’t know what, if anything, awaits them there. They have nothing: just a pistol to defend themselves against the lawless bands that stalk the road, the clothes they are wearing, a cart of scavenged food–and each other.”
Cast:
– Viggo Mortensen as the Man.
– Kodi Smit-McPhee as the Boy.
– Charlize Theron as the Wife (she appears in flashback).
– Michael K. Williams as a thief.
– Robert Duvall as an old, dying man.
– and Guy Pearce as a father wandering with his family.
The bleak future described in The Road is quite scary. And it does not need monsters or aliens to scare: just need humans turned savages…
The movie The Road will hit theaters on October 16th, 2009.
:)
Plot / Synopsis:
“Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal) is a 6th century prince of Persia who teams up with Princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton) to rescue the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that controls time, from the hands of the villainous nobleman, Nizam (Ben Kingsley).”
Cast:
– Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince Dastan, a sixth-century Persian prince. The character is nameless in the games; Jordan Mechner said he chose the name because it is the Persian word for “trickster”. Gyllenhaal estimated he gained five pounds of muscle for the role.
– Gemma Arterton as Tamina, a feisty and exotic princess. Arterton practiced horse riding in Madrid and did further training in London.
– Ben Kingsley as Nizam, King Shahrman’s brother who plans to kill the ruler and blame the murder on Prince Dastan.
– Alfred Molina as Sheik Amar, a mentor to Prince Dastan.
– Toby Kebbell as Dastan’s brother, head of the Persian army.
I was playing to Jordan Mechner’s Prince of Persia at the very beginning, when it was but a 2D platform game. But I didn’t follow with the following 3D versions. But I’m glad to see The Prince of Persia adapted into a live action movie.
:)
We may have a look to Surrogates, an upcoming sci-fi movie directed by Jonathan Mostow and starring Bruce Willis, thanks to this featurette that found its way online:
Synopsis / Plot:
“In the near future, humans live in isolation and only interact through remote-controlled artificial bodies that serve as surrogates. When several surrogates are murdered, a cop (Bruce Willis) investigates the crimes through his own surrogate. The investigation forces the cop to bring his human form out of isolation and unravel a conspiracy behind the crimes.”
Cast:
– Bruce Willis as Agent Greer, a cop who investigates the murder of others’ surrogates
– Radha Mitchell as Agent Peters, the cop’s partner
– Rosamund Pike as Maggie Greer, the cop’s wife
– Ving Rhames as The Prophet, a cult figure who disdains surrogates and plans an uprising
– Boris Kodjoe as Anthony Stone
– Jack Noseworthy as Strickland
– James Francis Ginty as Dr. Lionel Canter
I think this movie will somewhat have the feel of Minority Report… Well not brand new, but I can but welcome a sci-fi movie, even more if it is starring Bruce Willis in the lead role!
The movie Surrogates will hit theaters on September 25, 2009.

Comments Off on The Princess and The Frog Movie Trailer
Thanks to the Disney Channel we may enjoy the movie trailer of The Princess and The Frog, the latest hand-drawn animated movie by Walt Disney Pictures, earlier than expected:
Walt Disney Pictures brings a classic tale to life!
Plot:
“A fairy tale centered on a young girl named Princess Tiana who lives in New Orleans’ French Quarter during the Jazz Age”
What a lovely a twist to this classic tale: the princess transforms into a frog after kissing the batracian!
But I still can’t say that I’m conquered by this animated movie… Maybe entertaining for my kids, bu not even sure about that… Well I suppose it’s one those movies that parents will force upon their children out of nostalgia… I don’t think this film deserves more a direct to dvd release…
:-)
Comments Off on Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese in Terminator 4
In Terminator 4 Anton Yelchin is playing the role of Kyle Reese in Terminator 4. Kyle Reese is the resistant who will be sent to the past to protect John Connor’s mother (and is actually Connor’s father…). Skynet may want to kill him, but John Connor won’t let it happen:
More clips of Terminator 4, aka Terminator Salvation, have popped up online through Collider. It’s surprising that Warner Bros. are releasing so much footage of the latest Terminator movie so early, but well it doesn’t hurt: those preview clips of McG’s Terminator 4 will make you want to go stand in line for tickets right away!
The promo frenzy around Terminator 4 is kicking into high gear: following the 4-minute Terminator Salvation clip released earlier, two new terminator 4 clips have popped up!
Comments Off on Woody Allen's Whatever Works Preview Clip
Woody Allen is back to New York after his sojourn in Europe. He celebrates his return with Whatever Works, a comedy movie starring Larry David and Evan Rachel Wood, set in the Big Apple.
Plot, Synopsis:
“An eccentric New Yorker (Larry David) abandons his upper class life to lead a more bohemian existence. He meets a young girl from the South and her family and no two people seem to get along in the entanglements that follow.”
A grumpy ‘old’ man who’s hitting on a young woman: well, Whatever Works is definitely a movie by Woody Allen!
;-P
Comments Off on The Princess and the Frog Disney Movie
Producer John Lasseter presented The Princess and the Frog, Walt Disney Pictures’ latest animated movie during ABC’s half-hour special The Backlot Buzz. He even brought some new footage of the film:
The Princess and the Frog is a family feature film loosely based upon the book The Frog Princess by E.D. Baker. It marks the return a return to the Disney classic fairy tale. John Lasseter is confident in the quality of The Princess and the Frog and sing the praise of Directors John Musker and Ron Clements. He boasts about the movie:
“Actually seeing an animated film this well-done is like something brand new again.”
Producer John Lasseter
Call me a CGI convert, but I find hard to get excited for this animated movie… It doesn’t look bad, but that’s more something you’d expect to watch on TV with your family on Sunday rather than in a theater…
The movie The Princess and the Frog will be released on December 11, 2009.

The new Pixar movie UP isn’t making as much buzz s Wall-E. Well a story about a grumpy old man teaming up with a chubby boy that’s not an easy sale even for Pixar. But some supporting characters are here to save the day, like Kevin the bird or like Dug the talking dog:
