Steven Quale (who previously worked along James Cameron, notably on Avatar as second unit director) has been hired by Warner Bros to direct Final Destination 5.

Scriptwriter Eric Heisserer has been hired to pen the script of Final Destination 5. There’s no official plot yet for Final Destination 5, but Heisserer gave a hint:

So we may expect the Grim Reaper to use laser eye surgery to get rid of some unfortunate dude. That tricky Grim Reaper!

According Warner Bros head Alan Horn who was at Showest there are plans for Final Destination 5! FD4 may not have shined much in the USA (grossing ‘only’ $66 million domestically) but it did quite well abroad (it grossed $180 million worldwide). So it’s no wonder that Warner Bros would like to produce yet another installment in the Final Destination movie series. Maybe they’re going to make some kind of reboot?

Anyway we may get ready to meet the Grim Reaper once again, and of course it will be in marvelous scary 3D! The film will probably be released sometime in 2011.
