Plot synopsis:
“Benjamin, a boy bullied for his Jewish faith, takes up boxing as a means of self-defense, alienating himself from his religious community. As an adult caught between two worlds, his desperation to provide for his family becomes the catalyst for a devastating series of events that ensures he may never find the acceptance he has always craved.”

The thing he’s lacing around his arm is a tefillin, it’s a black leather box containing scrolls of parchment inscribed with verses from the Torah.

Once released he is determined to right the wrongs which led to his downfall. He finds a way back into community life through his old boxing gym, where a devastating truth about his past is revealed and becomes the catalyst for a series of events that ensures he will never return to the normal life he has always craved.”
