The movie Paranormal Activity 2 is directed by Tod Kip Williams. But Oren Peli who directed the first film is still attached as producer and he’s quite confident:
“These guys get it, and the fans won’t be disappointed.”
Oren Peli
With this trailer of Paranormal Activity 2 I have to agree with him, it seems Paranormal Activity 2 will be as creepy as the first one!
:)
It was announced by Oren Peli (who wrote and directed the first film):
“I have some awesome news for the fans of Paranormal Activity – director [Tod] Kip Williams will join us for the next chapter of the story. We are thrilled to have Kip working with us. He is the guy we want at the helm, because he knows exactly what we want to deliver to the fans… and I can’t wait to be part of what he’s putting together. I don’t want to spoil the story but I promise it’ll surprise you. Stay tuned.”
Oren Peli
Director Tod Willians previously helmed the drama movie “The Door in the Floor”.
Paranormal Activity 2 is still scheduled for a release on October 22, 2010. So I guess more details will leak online soon!
:)
There is some confusion right now about what movie Kevin Greutert is going to helm. Paramount announced that Kevin Greutert would direct Paranormal Activity 2. But looks like Lionsgate isn’t much happy with this and they have decided to exercise an option from Kevin Greutert’s previous contract: the director would have to give one more year to Lionsgate to direct Saw 7, which means that David Hackl would have to work on something else… And for sure Kevin Greutert isn’t much happy with Lionsgate exercising the option, and he’s been even voicing his anger on his personal blog:
“I just had the task of telling my 83 year old mother that no, I’m not going to be allowed to direct the movie we were all so excited about when my family last got together, and that I’m being forced to leave town before getting a chance to see her again. Yes, I’ll be filming people getting tortured YET AGAIN. So we’ll have to put off me making a film she can actually watch for another year.”
Director Kevin Greutert
The movie industry is a real business, so can’t blame Lionsgate for trying to protect the Saw franchise…
Comments Off on Kevin Greutert Paranormal Activity 2
In a surprising twist Director Kevin Greutert (who helmed Saw 6 and edited the previous Saw movies) has been hired by Paramount to direct Paranormal Activity 2! And Screenwriter Michael R. Perry will pen the script.
Oren Peli, who directed the first Paranormal Activity movie, is only producing the sequel. But no reason to worry according to him:
“These guys get it, and the fans won’t be disappointed.”
Oren Peli
Paramount want to release Paranormal Activity on October 22, 2010 (yep, they really want to kill the Saw franchise!). So I think more details about the plot of Paranormal Activity 2 will surface online soon.
:)
The movie Paranormal Activity had a huge success, and we are left to wonder about a possible sequel. Well, Paramount is definitely thinking about it. While promoting the DVD release, Actor Micah Sloat said something interesting about the movie Paranormal Activity 2:
“Paramount and the producers are very aware of what happened with Blair Witch 2, and how you can’t really take something that’s unique like Blair Witch or Paranormal and then follow it up with just a typical, Hollywood horror film. It just doesn’t work. I think you can expect Paranormal Activity 2 to be just as unique, or at least have a quality of uniqueness, just like the original did, in its own way and I think it’s really going to be a great movie.”
Actor Micah Sloat
Do you think Micah Sloat’s words were guided by Paramount’s marketing team or does he know something about the sequel to Paranormal Activity? Is he going to come back as a vengeful spirit in the movie Paranormal Activity 2?
:)
The first Paranormal Activity movie directed by Oren Peli may have been filmed on low budget, officially with only $15,000. But it’s been a huge success. And Paramount is damn glad they picked the rights. Now it looks like they want to start a franchise. A movie sequel to Paranormal Activity seems to be in the air, yep we can get ready for Paranormal Activity 2:
PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2
“We have the rights on a worldwide basis to do Paranormal 2 and we’re looking to see if that makes some sense.”
Brad Grey, CEO of Paramount Pictures
I guess he doesn’t want to look like a shark, but it definitely makes sense for the company: you invest a few bucks and you’re paid back millions. So I have no doubt that they’re going to produce Paranormal Activity 2.
Not sure what would be the basis of Paranormal Activity 2 though: another random couple or family haunted by some evil spirit? What would you suggest for Paranormal Activity 2?
