Rally Car Movie
Actor Keanu Reeves (picture above at the 2009 Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race) got the lead role in Rally Car, the upcoming action movie directed by Harald Zwart based on a script by Jeremy Lott. Check out the first official plot synopsis:
Plot synopsis:
“From Harald Zwart, director of Karate Kid, comes a new fast-paced thriller, taking on the high-octane world of international rally car racing. Champion driver Matt Simpson’s (Keanu Reeves) career is in the fast lane, until he makes a risky move during a race that nearly kills him and his teammate. Hoping to rebuild his reputation, he heads to China and enters a grueling and dangerous rally car race across the face of the country. His copilot, a young Chinese woman named Min, is hoping to save her boss’ crew by winning. Though Matt struggles to trust her at first, the two quickly become one of the best and most popular racing teams. Over the course of the treacherous 10-day-long race, Matt’s growing relationship with Min helps him to discover that there is more to racing than winning. RALLY CAR is a testosterone fueled, high stakes international racing movie that will thrill action fans worldwide.”
The film has been compared here and there to the 1981 movie The Cannonball Run. I doubt it will be as funny though… I guess it will be a bit edgier.
Filming should start this Summer in China (the film co-produced by some Chinese company).
There’s no official release date yet. But the film will likely get released sometime in 2017.
