A first official look at The World to Come, the upcoming period drama movie directed by Mona Fastvold based on a script by Ron Hansen and Jim Shepard and starring Katherine Waterston, Vanessa Kirby, Karina Ziana Gherasim, Christopher Abbott, Casey Affleck, Ioachim Ciobanu, and Sandra Personnic-House:
“In upstate New York in the 1850s, Abigail (Katherine Waterston) begins a new year on the rural farm where she lives with her husband Dyer (Casey Affleck). As Abigail considers the year to come through her journal entries, we experience the marked contrast between her deliberate, stoic manner and her unravelling complex emotions. Spring arrives and Abigail meets Tallie (Vanessa Kirby), an emotionally frank and arrestingly beautiful newcomer renting a neighboring farm with her husband, Finney (Christopher Abbott). The two strike up a tentative relationship, filling a void in their lives which neither knew existed.”
