Plot synopsis:
“When 79-year-old curmudgeon RAYMOND (Frank Langella) makes arrangements to be euthanized in Oregon, his family refuses to accept his decision.But when another family emergency arises, Raymond’s daughter KATE (Christina Applegate) turns to her husband BRIAN (Billy Crudup) for a little help. So Brian reluctantly volunteers to drive the cantankerous Raymond and his wine-loving wife ESTELLE (Mary Kay Place) three-thousand miles to Oregon. Determined to change the old man’s mind before they reach the Beaver State, it becomes quickly apparent to Brian that convincing your father-in-law to keep living when he’s ready to check out is no simple task.”

Plot synopsis:
“When Brian (Billy Crudup)’s secretly ailing 82-year-old father in law Raymond (Frank Langella) announces he’s made arrangements to be euthanized in his home state of Oregon, Brian is tasked with chauffeuring him for the trip. Accompanied by Raymond’s wife, Estelle (Mary Kay Place), Brian must convince the old man to forego pre-arranged death before they reach their final destination. The story becomes an intimate trek through the tribulations of Raymond’s life and serves as a wake-up call to Brian in his own journey as a man, father, and husband. ”

The old man should have some kind of decadent bachelor party before he kicks the bucket!

“A man (Billy Crudup) is tasked with driving his embittered 80-year-old father-in-law (Frank Langella)cross country to be legally euthanized in Oregon, while along the way helping him rediscover a reason for living.”
