Thanks to Sony Pictures, here’s a first TV spot for Pompeii, the upcoming volcanic action movie directed by Paul W.S. Anderson:

Plot:
“A slave turned gladiator (Kit Harington) finds himself in a race against time to save his true love (Emily browning), who has been betrothed to a corrupt Roman Senator. As Mount Vesuvius erupts, he must fight to save his beloved as Pompeii crumbles around him.”

Well, the eruption that destroyed Pompeii sure was a disaster. But it isn’t History’s greatest disaster that the marketing team behind the film wants you to believe… “Only” around 16,000 people died from the eruption. There are earthquakes, floods, and storms that claimed way more lives in History, check out this top ten of the deadliest natural disasters so far (source: Wikipedia):
