Mirrors 2 Movie

20th Century Fox has greenlit the production of a movie sequel to Mirrors, the remake horror movie starring Kiefer Sutherland. Mirrors 2 will be directed by Victor Garcia (who once brought us Return to the House on Haunted Hill). The film will be based on a script by Matt Venne. Surprisingly there is already a synopsis online:

Plot:
“After losing his fiancee in a car crash, for which he blames himself, suicidal Max Matheson reluctantly takes a job as a night watchman at his father’s Mayflower Department Store. When his co-workers are killed off in gruesome and horrible ways and Max begins to see a mysterious young woman in all the store’s mirrors, desperate to communicate with him, he fears he’s losing his mind, or that he may be the next victim.”

Filming of Mirrors 2 is set to start in November, so the movie will probably be released in Summer or Fall 2010.

I wonder if Mirrors 2 will come up with a scene as gruesome as that creepy bathtub scene from the first film: Continue reading »

Independence Day 2 Movie

Independence Day 2 MovieThere could be a movie sequel to Independence Day 2 if Director Roland Emmerich finds enough support. Indeed, he’s been talking about a potential Independence Day 2 movie to MTV:

Independence Day 2 Trailer

“Dean Devlin and I are still set to make a sequel likely because we’ve found some sort of idea and we approached FOX and FOX has not quite figured out how to incorporate Dean’s and my deal, and Will’s (Smith) deal. Will wants to do it in some sort of a package they can live with. So it’s just been in negations now since forever, and naturally FOX says ‘Why don’t you do it without Will Smith?’ I said Will is essential for us, for this movie and actually for the audience too. And, so, it’s in limbo and lately the studios are fighting. Like gross players, and Will is a gross player and is probably the only gross player right now who’s worth his gross. So we’ll see what happens. I would love to do it.”

Director Roland Emmerich

I’d be thrilled by a new Independence Day movie. But what could be the plot of a sequel? A new wave of aliens coming to avenge those who died in the explosion of the alien mothership that was destroyed by Will Smith’s Trojan horse? Or maybe it would be about a few aliens surviving the final counter-attack and who have since infiltrated our world?

Any guess about the plot of Independence Day 2? Any advice for Roland Emmerich?

Precious Movie Trailer

Precious MovieHere below the brand new movie trailer of Precious, a drama movie directed by Lee Daniels and based on the novel Push by Sapphire:

PRECIOUS
Plot synopsis:
“Overweight, illiterate teenager Clareece ‘Precious’ Jones (Gabourey Sidibe) lives in Harlem with her dysfunctional family; she has been impregnated twice by her father and is in a destructive relationship with her mother (Mo’Nique). Precious is invited to an alternative school where she hopes that her life can change direction.”

Cast:
– Gabourey Sidibe as Clareece “Precious” Jones
– Mo’Nique as Mary Jones, Precious’ mother
– Mariah Carey as Mrs. Weiss, a social worker
– Paula Patton as Ms. Rain, Precious’ teacher
– Lenny Kravitz as John, a nurse
– Sherri Shepherd as Cornrows

It’s hard to feel empathy at first for the fatty Precious, but her determination to improve her life, knowing the hell she’s been living in, can but win my respect. I haven’t read the book, so I’ll go watch Precious with an open mind. I just hope that there is some happy end for her because life hasn’t been very kind to her…
