Plot synopsis:
“The film is based on the epic true story of Captain James Riley (Russell Crowe) and the crew of the United States merchant ship Commerce, who after being shipwrecked off the coast near the Eastern Sahara in 1815 were captured and sold into slavery by ruthless Bedouin traders. Against all odds, the crew battled heat, thirst, hunger and ceaseless attacks by warring tribes to navigate a 1,000 mile trek through the inhospitable desert to win their freedom. The film is based on Riley’s stirring memoir, which gripped a nation, became a best seller, and which President Lincoln cited as one of the most influential texts that inspired him.”

Actress Jessica Chastain will have the lead role as Catherine Weldon, “Sitting Bull’s white squaw”, in Woman Walks Ahead, the upcoming biography drama movie directed by Susanna White based on a script by Steven Sknight. Here’s the official plot synopsis:
