Star Trek 2 Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman

Scriptwriters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are working on the script of Star Trek 2, and of course they keep the plot secret and aren’t telling much. the But it won’t hinder Star Trek fans from asking for plot details of Star Trek 2. Lucky us, they did give a few – vague – details during a recent Star Trek Q&A:

Roberto orci

“We would never do a remake. It will be some time in the five-year mission. But that is a question. Should we pick them up immediately the next day or should it be later? We are still discussing that.”

Scriptwriter Roberto Orci

“I think our idea on this is that the first of any series is about them coming together or the formation. I couldn’t really tell you what Jeff Bridges was doing in Iron Man, but it doesn’t matter at all because it is all about Iron Man becoming Iron Man. Whereas I think sequels are very much about the villain. Because while [in the first one] the villain serves to bring the crew together, the second one I think has to be a true challenging of what that family is about. That is why Wrath of Khan was so amazing. Khan tested each one of them and ultimately asked for the ultimate sacrifice, and that is why that movie held up so well.”

Scriptwriter Alex Kurtzman

Those two scriptwriters really want to drive the Trekkies crazy! Come on, can’t they give better hints at who’s gonna be the villain in Star trek 2?
Hmm, actually I think they did give away something: they’re kind of saying that it can’t be Khan because it would be a remake, so keeping in mind that the Klingons were introduced in a deleted scene (available on the Blu-Ray of the first film, you may watch it –>here), I’d say that the next villain will most probably be the Klingons!

I want to see Kirk meet up with Carol Marcus, and have David be born. It would be cool to see that side of things, that lead up to some of the side events dealing with Khan.

(and side note about Wrath of Khan: when Khan says to Checkov “I never forget a face,” Checkov had not joined the crew yet when they aired the Khan episode… Khan was season 2, Checkov was season 3. …oops.)
