I understand better now why some have been talking about a possible influence of BSG on Stargate Universe. It looks indeed more mature than the traditional sci-fi show. And God knows it looks good!
The new series Stargate Universe will premiere on October 2, 2009 as a two-hour movie and then begin regular weekly airings on Syfy in October 2009.
