The Dead Lands Movie Trailer

Thanks to Transmission Films, here’s the official trailer of The Dead Lands, the upcoming action movie directed by Toa Fraser based on a script by Glenn Standring:

“In New Zealand, long before the colonization, Hongi (James Rolleston) – a Maori chieftain’s teenage son – must avenge his father’s murder in order to bring peace and honour to the souls of his loved ones after his tribe is slaughtered through an act of treachery. Vastly outnumbered by a band of villains, led by Wīrepa (Te Kohe Tūhaka), Hongi’s only hope is to pass through the feared and forbidden Dead Lands and forge an uneasy alliance with the mysterious “Warrior” (Lawrence Makoare), a ruthless fighter who has ruled the area for years.”

There’s also an official poster:

Where the warrior spirit was born.

The whole thing kind of reminds me of Mel Gibson’s “Apocalypto” (–>check out the trailer). Fortunately the barbaric ways of old have been abandoned! Anyway, looks like a great film!

By the way, the actors from the film are mixed-race, aren’t they?

The film has yet to get an official release date.
