The Lego Movie, the 3D CG animated movie directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, has been performing rather well in theaters: so far the film has already grossed $277 million for a $60 million production budget. So one can understand why the studios would want a sequel to the film.

And there’s indeed a sequel to The Lego movie ahead of us. Warner Bros even announced an official release date: May 26, 2017. Jared Stern and Michelle Morgan have been hired to pen a script. It’s not clear yet if Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will return to helm The Lego Movie 2.

The Last Witch Hunter Movie

Actor Vin Diesel was once set to play the lead role in The Last Witch Hunter movie, an action adventure fantasy movie based on a script by Cory Goodman (who wrote the script of Priest). And Director Breck Eisner was attached to the project. But the film somehow fell in development limbo. But but it sounds like it’s now moving ahead, Vin Disel indeed shared this photo via his official facebook page:

I will fill you all in later… but this meeting went well.

Actor Vin Disel

Hanging on the wall you may see a few concept art pictures of The Last Witch Hunter!

The plot hasn’t been officially announced yet, but from what I read here and there, it would revolve around an immortal witch hunter who has to partners with his natural enemy, a female witch, to stop the evil covens of New York City from unleashing a plague on mankind.

It’s kind of like Riddick vs Maleficent? Well sign me up for The Last Witch Hunter! Let’s hope the project will go ahead and will start filming soon!

3 New Pictures of Guardians of the Galaxy

Take a look to those three new official pictures of Guardians of the Galaxy, the upcoming science-fiction superhero movie directed by James Gunn for Marvel:

(Click on a picture to enlarge.)

Plot:
“The Guardians stories converge in the space prison Kyln. After the characters break out, they venture to Knowhere (the severed head of a celestial being that serves as a hangout for aliens) and visit the weird menagerie of the Collector (Benicio Del Toro). They also have to avoid two villains, Ronan (Lee Pace) and Nebula (Karen Gillan), who are in hot pursuit of Quill’s orb, which has the power to destroy the galaxy.”

The material we’ve seen so far kind of reminds me of the Australian science-fiction TV series Farscape: it’s the same mix of kitsch, humor, and awesome science-fiction.

By the way, expect a trailer soon!

Release date: August 1, 2014.

Everest Movie

Director Baltasar Kormakur (who helmed Contraband), is working on Everest, an upcoming adventure drama movie starring Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes and Jake Gyllenhaal. Here’s a first picture from the film:

(Click on the picture to enlarge.)

Plot:
“Inspired by the incredible events surrounding a treacherous attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain, EVEREST documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. Their mettle tested by the harshest of elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival.”

I am never sure if I admire climbers or think they are nuts! It’s no activity for wimpy people: you need a combo of strength, stamina and real determination. But it’s damn dangerous… Why do they go up there for God’s sake?

Anyway, the release date of Everest is set to February 27, 2015.

The Avengers 2 Age of Ultron – Paul Bettany is Vision!

Actor Paul Bettany (pictured below, you may remember him for his role in Priest) joins the cast of The Avengers 2 aka The Avengers Age of Ultron. The actor is set to play the role of Vision. For those who don’t know him, Vision is a superpowered android created by the robot Ultron to hunt down the Avengers. But the android eventually turns against his evil creator and joins forces with the team of superheroes.

Avengers 2 Movie Trailer

Plot:
“As the US Government create a force, known as Ultron, The Avengers are told they are not needed any longer. But when Ultron turns against Humanity, it’’ time for The Avengers to assemble yet again for their most dangerous challenge ever.”

You may recall that Paul Bettany lent his voice to J.A.R.V.I.S. in the previous Iron Man movies. So how is the whole thing going to turn out? Did Ultron somehow bring Tony Starck’s Artificial intelligence into subservience and gave him an android body at some point?

The Avengers 2 Age of Ultron is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2015.

Manglehorn Movie starring Al Pacino

Actor Al Pacino got the lead role in Manglehorn, an upcoming drama movie directed by David Gordon Green based on a script by Paul Logan. Here’s a first official look at the actor in the film:

(Click on the picture to enlarge.)

Plot:
“AJ Manglehorn (Al Pacino) is an aging, ordinary guy in a small town. He nurses his sick cat, squeezes out a conversation with the local bank teller every Friday, and eats at the same place every day.
But there is more to Manglehorn than meets the eye: he’s an ex-con who, 40 years ago, gave up the woman of his dreams for a big ‘job’. He now obsesses daily over the choices he made. After a dramatic effort to start over, Manglehorn faces a terrifying moment and is unmasked as a guy with a very, very dark past.”

All Pacino as a man with a checkered past? And a former con-man with that? Great cast me think! Let’s hope the movie will make use of his talent!

The film has yet to get an official release date.

“For me, Jurassic Park was really kind of my Star Wars. I lined up at the theatre to see it, I saw it opening night, I saw every sequel, I’ve seen it a whole bunch of times… for me that was my big movie, I think I was 13 or 14 when it came out. And so it’s a big deal for me to be any part of that, let alone this part I’m going to be playing. I’m thrilled about it.”

Man of Steel 2 – Batman vs Superman – Jesse Eisenberg is Lex Luthor

Warner Bros announced that Actor Jesse Eisenberg will play the role of Lex Luthor, Superman’s human nemesis, in the movie batman vs Superman, the upcoming movie sequel to Man of Steel. For those who don’t know who’s Jesse Eisenberg, here’s a photo of the wimpy kid:

You may have seen him in “The Social Network” (he played the role of Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook) or in “Now Your See Me”.

I do like Jesse Eisenberg, he’s a good actor. But Am kind of disappointed by Warner Bros’s choice…. Jesse Eisenberg is too wimpy… I wish they had hired Heisenberg, er I mean Bryan Cranston, the actor from the TV series Breaking Bad.

What about you? Do you agree with Jesse Eisenberg playing the role of Lex Luthor?

Batman vs Superman will hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
