We already knew that Sylvester Stallone was considering a movie sequel to the Expendables even before the film was released. Well, now that the Expendables movie is performing quite well in theaters, it sounds like it’s a done deal. He’s already revealing a few details about the Expendables 2:

The sequel to The Expendables is plotted out in my mind’s eye. I believe this group has to continue to evolve; it just can’t become the same people. So how do you get new people introduced into the group, and how do you have some of the other people leaving? Those are the challenges.

We already knew that the movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows would be split into two movies. Now we also how they’re to split the last opus of J.K. Rowling’s saga: Part I will end at about Chapter 24 of the book, with Voldemort gaining possession of the Elder Wand, one of the three Deathly Hallows that allow the bearer to conquer death. So the Deathly Hallows Part 2, will focus on the final battle for Hogwarts and what happens next.

Harry Potter 7 will be released on November 19, 2010 and Harry Potter 8 will hit theaters on July 15, 2011.

Disney has hired Director Andrew Stanton to helm John Carter of Mars, a live-action movie about the character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs for his Barsoom series. The cast includes Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Samantha Morton, Mark Strong, Ciaran Hinds, Dominic West, James Purefoy, Daryl Sabara, Polly Walker, Bryan Cranston, Thomas Hayden Church, and Willem Dafoe .

Actress Helen Mirren got the lead role as the witch Prospera in The Tempest, an upcoming fantasy drama movie written and directed by Julie Taymor based on William Shakespeare’s play of the same name. Besides Helen Mirren the cast also includes Russell Brand, Alfred Molina, Djimon Hounsou, David Strathairn, Chris Cooper and Alan Cumming. The release date is set for December 10, 2010.

Director Bennett Miller is working on Moneyball, an upcoming baseball movie starring Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Wright. The story revolves around the Oakland Athletics baseball team and its general manager Billy Beane. Moneyball will be released in theaters sometime in 2011.

Disney has picked up the movie rights to Oblivion, a science-fiction feature film imagined by Joseph Kosinski. Radical Publishing will release a comic book based on the story of Joseph Kosinski’s Oblivion in November.

There’s a remake of Fright Night, the cult comedy horror movie from the 1980s, in the works. The new Fright Night movie is directed Craig Gillespie and is starring Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, David Tennant, and Toni Collette. The release date of Fright Night is set for October 7, 2011.
