The Last Airbender MovieM. Night Shyamalan and his crew are working working hard on the Last Airbender, the live-action movie adaptation of Avatar The Last Airbender, the acclaimed animated series aired on Nickelodeon. Here below, thanks to Entertainment Weekly, 4 pictures from the set of the Last Airbender:

Noah Ringer as Aang the Last Airbender Dev Patel - Last Airbender Movie
Uncle Iroh - Last Airbender Movie

Plot:
“The story follows the adventures of Aang, a ten year old successor to a long line of Avatars, who must put his childhood ways aside and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations.”

I’m surprised that they chose someone as slim as Shaun Toub to play the role of Iroh, who is Zuko’s Uncle… In the anime Uncle Iroh is a real Epicurian who loves good jokes, food and tea… I’m not sure Shaun Toub fits that description.

Anyway, at least it seems they did fix Zuko’s scar: now you can’t miss it!

Let’s enjoy again the teaser trailer of the Last Airbender: Continue Reading »

Jackson Rathbone as Sokka Last Airbender Movie

We got our hands on a first picture of Actor Jackson Rathbone as Sokka in Shyamalan’s Last Airbender:

Last Airbender Trailer

(Click on the picture to enlarge it.)

Sokka is a young warrior of the Southern Water Tribe (and actually the only one left in his village since all the men have been made prisoners by the Fire Nation). With his sister, Katara, he accompanies Aang on his quest to defeat the Fire Lord. The joker of the group, Sokka describes himself as “meat-loving” and “sarcastic”. Unlike his companions, Sokka is not gifted with the power of bending an element, but the series, though it often makes him the victim of comedy at his expense, frequently grants him opportunities to use his ingenuity and weapons, including his trusty boomerang and a sword he forged from a meteorite.

(Jackson Rathbone)

I like the character of Sokka: he’s the stupid idiot who manages to stay clever and still get the girls. I bet that Jackson Rathbone will perform well as Sokka in the upcoming Last Airbender movie.

Nicola Peltz as Katara Last Airbender Movie

Here below a first look at the young actress Nicola Peltz as waterbender Katara in Shyamalan’s Airbender:

Last Airbender Movie Cast

Nicola Peltz as Katara the waterbender

Katara is a Waterbender of the Southern Water Tribe. Katara and her brother, Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), discover and free Aang (Noah Ringer) from the iceberg in which he had been trapped. With her brother Sokka, she accompanies Aang on his quest to defeat the Fire Lord, and eventually becomes his Waterbending teacher.

(Nicola Peltz)

Niola Peltz is fine for me as Katara, well still have to check ho she plays her role. But I guess some overzealous fans will spit their disdain on Shyamlan’s choice… How sad for them… Nicola Peltz will be great as Katara, let’s be optimistic and give her a chance.

I don’t like the teaser poster of the Last Airbender that has been unveiled recently because it gives too much credit to M. Night Shyamalan…

THE LAST AIRBENDER

Written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan

Written by Shyamalan? He just wrote (contributed to?) the screenplay, what a big deal! Hey, the real creators of the Avatar, aka the Last Airbender, are Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino (the one as bald as Aang):

May God bless those two guys and let’s pray for Shyamalan to stay on a good track in his adaptation of the Last Airbender!

The Last Airbender MovieThe first teaser trailer of The Last Airbender has been released, you may watch it here below:

Last Airbender Movie Trailer

THE LAST AIRBENDER

From M Night Shyamalan

Next Summer

Plot:
“The story follows the adventures of Aang, a ten year old successor to a long line of Avatars, who must put his childhood ways aside and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations.”

The movie The Last Aibender is adapted from the animated series of the Avatar that aired on Nicklelodeon. The film is directed by M. Night Shyamalan.

Judging from what we see I’d say that Shyamalan’s take on Avatar The Last Airbender is going to be a bit darker than the animated series. But M. Night Shyamalan stated that he was doing the movie for a large public so it won’t diverge by too much. Love the boats from the Fire nation:

I’m impressed by the skills in martial arts of Noah Ringer who plays the role of Aang the Avatar:

And I’m definitely found of Noah Ringer as Aang the Avatar! He looks damn great!

So impatient to watch he Last Airbender movie!

Dev Patel as Zuko Last Airbender Movie

Below two pictures of Dev Patel (the guy from Slumdog Milliaonaire) as Zuko in the upcoming epic fantasy movie the Last Airbender, aka Shyamalan’s Aavatar:

Dev Patel as Zuko - Last Airbender Movie
Dev Patel
I suppose Indian people will rejoice to see Dev Patel in this role, but some squabbler could still assert that Zuko is actually from a Chinese-like civilization though… Hey, to the squabblers from any origin: that’s useless bickering!

I’m really happy with the cast selected by Director M. Night Shyamalan so far.

Some tidbits about Zuko in the original Last Airbender series:

Zuko

In the show, Zuko is the elder child of Fire Lord Ozai and Ursa. Zuko is a skilled Firebender and the Crown Prince of the Fire Nation, a race of people in which some have the ability to create and manipulate fire & lightning. Before the events of the series, he is exiled from the Fire Nation by his father Fire Lord Ozai and sent to capture the Avatar in order to restore his honor and right to the throne. Zuko is accompanied and advised in his search by his uncle, Iroh.

The Last Airbender movie trilogy is going to be awesome! Continue Reading »

There was some stupid controversy about the cast selected by M. Night Shyamalan for the Last Airbender, the upcoming movie adaptation of the animated series Avatar aired by Nickelodeon. But this first look at Noah Ringer as Aang, aka the Avatar, will conquer the hearts of even the most die-hard fans:

Just compare with the original Aang from the anime:

It seems that Shyamalan’s Airbender is shaping as a quite faithful adaptation. Will have more confimation with the movie trailer of the Last Airbender which will be shown in front of Transformers 2.

Plot:
“The story follows the adventures of the successor to a long line of Avatars who must put aside his irresponsible ways and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations.”

I’m proud to be a fan of this animated series: Aang is a great hero! Let’s hope that M. Night Shyamalan’s Last Airbender movie will be faithful to the epic original source material.

Shyamalan will direct the Last Airbender, a movie adaptation of the Avatar, an animated TV series shown on Nickelodeon.

If you have children then you may know Aang the lead character of a Nickelodeon TV animated series called Avatar The Last Airbender. I, fo one, knew Aang before my kids. I am a real fan!

Thanks God for Director M. Night Shyamalan does have kids too: Shyamalan is going to adapt the show into a movie because of his daughter! Better listen to Shyamalan explaining himself why he is interested in the movie adaptation of Avatar, the Last Airbender:

Last Airbender M. Night Shyamalan Interview

Shyamalan’s Avatar should be a trilogy, with the Last Airbender being the first opus. I wish it to be as great as the Lord of The Rings saga! Hope there will be enough cash to support Shyamalan’s vision despite the undergoing crisis…
